After a few days in Chengdu we went on a day trip to the Buddha. Not any buddha, the biggest Buddha in China and even the biggest stone statue in the world. And it is over 1300 years old! The Tiger Leaping Gorge, or Tiegersprungschlucht in German, is definitely a must go attraction if you stay in Lijiang. Over thousands of years the yellow river has cut a very deep gorge into the cloud covered mountains. At some points the gorge is over 900 meters deep (2700 feet). You can hike for two days along the Gorge and you see many beautiful local villages and rice fields. Chop chop dinner is ready!
