Sunday, July 19, 2015. Hiatus - Working on a Novel. This is just a note to my readers that I won't be posting very often for a few months, because I've resurrected a children's novel I started writing about six years ago, and I don't seem to have enough hours in the week to do both that and blogging! Wordgazer's Words: March 2015
http://krwordgazer.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, March 29, 2015. Good Stuff - March 2015. So here's what I thought was eye-opening, mind-opening and/or heart-opening on the Internet this month. Interestingly, as I look at these posts as a group, I see a thread running through all of them of false dichotomies: the idea that a thing or person must be either A or B, that there is no such thing as C- and D? Well, that's just silly. Of Boys and Girls (Good and Rotten) and Climbing Trees. And if that’s true, that is ultimately what drives patri...

Sunday, January 29, 2012. The Bible and Human Authority, Part 3: The Great Chain of Being. So where did the idea come from, that there is top-down chain of command from God, both in earthly and in spiritual relationships, with human authority structures in every area of life? The Great Chain of Being. Harper and Brothers (1936) p. 63.). The Elizabethan World Picture,. Written in 1547 stated,. 8220;In the earth God has assigned kings, princes with other governors under them, all in good and necessary orde...

Friday, June 19, 2015. In Tribute: Suzanne McCarthy, 1955-2015. In early 2008 I encountered Christian egalitarianism for the first time and embraced it with excitement and relief. Finally, I could let go of my cognitive dissonance! I could believe in a God who hadn't arbitrarily consigned me to subordinate status; I could trust that I hadn't been created for subordination to a man while still somehow being his equal. It was then that I came across her blog- or maybe I was directed there; I don't remember.

Wordgazer's Words: Is Marriage Really an Illustration of Christ's Relationship with the Church? Part 2
http://krwordgazer.blogspot.com/2011/10/is-marriage-really-ilustration-of.html
Thursday, October 20, 2011. Is Marriage Really an Illustration of Christ's Relationship with the Church? In part 1 I showed that Ephesians 5:21-33 does not say marriage is an illustration of Christ and the church. It’s the other way around. This passage shows couples a specific picture of Christ and the church, to take as an illustration for marriage. What is that specific picture? A Wives, to your own husbands as to the Lord. B For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the c...

Wordgazer's Words: The Bible and Human Authority, Part 1: Old Testament
http://krwordgazer.blogspot.com/2012/01/bible-and-human-authority-part-1-old.html
Sunday, January 15, 2012. The Bible and Human Authority, Part 1: Old Testament. It cannot be denied that human societies need some form of law, to protect people from being harmed by one another, among other things- and that laws need someone with the power to enforce them, or they are useless. But is this idea that "someone has to be in charge," that there is a chain of command in every area of human life, actually taught in the Bible? How is the concept of authority treated in the Bible? In fact, God a...
