Freelance Father: February 2006

A place to discuss my experiences as a father, a husband, and as a freelance writer and game designer. The First Half of February. I guess things are beginning to improve around here. In no particular order:. The exit procedure for the program includes a series of photographs from all angles, followed by another casting of the child's head. The original casting was such fun (that's me being sarcastic, by the way) that we fully anticipated a drop-down, drag-out fight with the boy over it. He proved us wro...

A place to discuss my experiences as a father, a husband, and as a freelance writer and game designer. We Have a New Bed. My wife and I, that is. My mother and I went down to a local store and picked one out. They delivered it around 1:30pm this afternoon, and I set it up. This makes my wife very happy, as the last bed was, shall we say, on its last legs. Actually, the legs had broken, and the only thing keeping the old bed off the ground was all the stuff my wife had stuffed beneath it.). He did well...

A place to discuss my experiences as a father, a husband, and as a freelance writer and game designer. I Waved Bye-Bye; He Cried. I wake up around 5:30 in the morning, but it's rare for me to crawl out of bed until just before six o'clock. I shower, dress, and grab a bite to eat, and then I head out the door between 6:30 and 6:40. The latest I can leave and still be on time (traffic willing) is 6:45am. Beyond that, all bets are off. I would've liked nothing more than to stay and be with my family this mo...

A place to discuss my experiences as a father, a husband, and as a freelance writer and game designer. June Is Upon Us! Nearly two months of my son's life has passed since my last post, and where have we been? Life is busy. Life with a toddler is very. Busy All in all, everything has been going well for us. Work is busy, as is my writing slate. Amy just celebrated a year in her current position, and I've been at my new job for going on four months now. So, how is our little sprout doing? Im a writer and ...

A place to discuss my experiences as a father, a husband, and as a freelance writer and game designer. Meat Loaf: It's What's For Dinner. As mentioned previously, I've been cooking a lot lately. I make sure to cook enough that we've got left-overs to eat the next day, be it for lunch or for dinner or for snacks. Tonight, it's meat loaf. We'll have a slab or two for supper (along with corn on the cob), with enough to spare for sandwiches tomorrow. Sauce and pepper for added flavor. It came out great.

A place to discuss my experiences as a father, a husband, and as a freelance writer and game designer. By our medical insurance, I mean, for Stephen's DOC band. How much of the service they intend to pay for remains to be seen, but I doubt they will cover more than half of the expense. It doesn't so much matter, since we've got to pay for the thing up front and out of pocket, and then send our insurance company a bill for their portion. I'm headed to bed now. I'll add more as it comes up. The boy, his mo...

A place to discuss my experiences as a father, a husband, and as a freelance writer and game designer. Here for a Year! You read that right. I sent an email to my pal Stan. Last night, which was part "Hey, how ya doin'? And part "Where's my money? He replied this morning, and one thing that he mentioned was that he'd been living here in Southern California for a year already. So, like.wow. There's another important benchmark on the horizon, which recalls another of my most important days: my wedding anni...

A place to discuss my experiences as a father, a husband, and as a freelance writer and game designer. Yesterday was Thanksgiving. Like many other Thanksgivings before, I gathered together with my family and ate copious amounts of roast turkey with all the trimmings. Unlike other Thanksgiving holidays, however, this one was Stephen's first. Well.first outside the womb, at least. Our arrival at my mom's place was somewhat delayed due to Mr. Man having a tooth-related "I really. When it was all said and do...

A place to discuss my experiences as a father, a husband, and as a freelance writer and game designer. The Cranium People: Follow-Up. It's been a couple of weeks since the last post. Gads, I've been busy. Work, home, writing, etc. It's certainly not the way it used to be, back before we had our baby boy. Here's the little man, holding his helmet. It's light-weight, and while not incredibly stylish, he is pretty cute in it (see below). Funny that such a simple thing would be so entertaining for him. W...
