Thursday, August 13, 2015. A GREAT WEEKEND IN SAN DIEGO". In front of the Botanical Building, Balboa Park, San Diego. What a great 3 days we had together at the event! Official count from all three events (Friday's Meet N Greet, Saturday Marathon sketching in Balboa and Sunday in Old Town), is 108. Lydia Velarde and her planning committee put together a fabulous event for which there was nothing but praise and well-wishes from the attendees. Lydia Velarde created three You Tube. One of the activities was to play "Detail Detective," using 35mm slide frames to hone in on little corners of the artwork as a way to explore and share what you're noticing. After finishing the original, above, I saved it as a file on my computer, then took it into Photoshop Elements and got a little creative with it. I did another web search and discovered the local Cost Plus has them. They even have the huge, 8 inch tall duck that was used for the costumed duck contest in years past. So I ran right out to get this big ducky. I might yet make him a costume! I got the last one on the self. see the large duck on the lowest shelf.

The "3 Rivers Convention Center," on the left was built some years ago; the structure on the right is the "Springhill Suites: Marriott," which is bran-new. I've been waiting for the construction to be completed because I wanted to draw the two buildings from this particular spot for a long time. Today was the day, and I like how it turned out.
