Restoring the Old Girl: Milton Moon
http://restoringtheoldgirl.blogspot.com/2014/04/milton-moon.html
The revival of a Queenslander.and everything else. Wednesday, April 16, 2014. I may not have made much progress with this blog lately, but elsewhere, I'm doing ok. My husband (I'm not even going to pretend I had anything to do with it) has finished the main room downstairs and now it's up to me to do the finishing bits; furniture, rug, sideboard, mirror. After a few minutes we laid our peter pointers on a wee square of colour called Milton Moon and walked out with 10 litres of it. It was my birthday rece...

The revival of a Queenslander.and everything else. Monday, February 23, 2015. Flight of the Hummingbird. I've been busy. I know, we've all been busy. However, last August, after putting all fears and doubts aside, I finally opened my own shop. It's called Hummingbird The Shop and it's in The Gap Village, at The Gap, Brisbane. Like it's namesake, Hummingbird is small but mighty! We stock Jadewood earrings. Tiff Manuell bags and jewellery. A range of Moroccan made belts and bags.delicious. 2 plus 3 makes 5!

The revival of a Queenslander.and everything else. Tuesday, July 30, 2013. Concrete Flamingos and Beach Umbrellas. I don't think it's any secret that I love a good fossick around an op shop. It's practically a legitimate hobby these days. With all that mass produced land fill coming out of China, where else are we going to find well-made unique pieces? I find it soothing, interesting, and it can be tres rewarding too. A concrete planter shaped like a swan. I have been looking at lights, ceiling roses, an...

The revival of a Queenslander.and everything else. Monday, April 8, 2013. Lily Pulitzer died yesterday. She was 81. Lily was a wealthy American who lived on the East Coast and became famous in the 1950s for her outrageously colourful frocks. After her old school friend Jackie Kennedy was photographed in one they went beserko. You can read more about Lily. Anyway, whatever your motivation or inspiration, thanks Lily. I love this photo of Lily with her two daughers. Excuse me. The shoes! Is Don. Is Good.

The revival of a Queenslander.and everything else. Tuesday, May 28, 2013. While I enjoy keeping a record of our house renovations, I think it would be remiss of me to edit the process, and break it down into cheerful chapters, like the musical interlude in an American rom-com. Can't you see it? If you are currently shopping the market, or just about to embark on your own renovation for the first time, I feel it my duty to give you some insight into the rather less glamorous flipside of renovating. It...

The revival of a Queenslander.and everything else. Friday, February 7, 2014. WALES, WALTS, King Ferns and Concrete Parrots. Five months have just accidentally slipped by without me updating the Old Girl. We've been busy doing lots of things, house-related and not. Tomorrow some electricians will be here and they'll be connecting the power to the downstairs rooms. So excited! Power points will go on, lights will go up, it's going to be a revolution! I have started working full-time. I know! I refuse to fe...

Restoring the Old Girl: Ta da!
http://restoringtheoldgirl.blogspot.com/2013/10/ta-da.html
The revival of a Queenslander.and everything else. Tuesday, October 8, 2013. Our herringbone floor is done. We nearly chickened out a couple of times, especially after the first two laying quotes. I'm so pleased that we persevered and got what we wanted. Remember this photo below was our inspiration. I actually like our longer zigzag pattern more. I just love it when a plan comes together! Now there are some more trims to do, before the floors are actually covered up again so we can paint the room. Hello...

The revival of a Queenslander.and everything else. Tuesday, March 26, 2013. Let the Hammering and Dust Begin! It's my birthday soon and my lovely (and very organised) friend Anna gave me this beautiful chartruese cup and saucer.and matching bangle. It's amazing how a bit of colour can give you a lift. Work on our downstairs rooms has started in earnest, and we are currently operating in the usual chaos that renovating creates. I'll have that chest of drawers and chair. Fleas The company assured me that n...
