2 Troop History 1971 - 1979. Thursday, March 24, 2011. Dave Lay and his Muirhill worked 30 hours non-stop, to dig the Gunners and Marines in. They had no idea of what a Muirhill and one Sapper could do, so were very pleased with the effort that Dave made and rewarded him with cans of beer. Everytime he completed a Gun pit, or whatever else, the beers flowed. Dave states "thank goodness their was no breath test, I would have been jailed for sure". MACC Tasks: construct a 195ft span suspension bridge, with 100ft approach span. 1969 - Exercise Crowning Glory. Construction of a bridge near Tampin, Singapore and a wading pit at HMS Simbang. April 1970 - Exercise Benatu Padu. Assembling camp structures, showers, tracking, roads and helicopter membranes.
