Family Meal: April 2012
http://ourfamilymeal.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Wednesday, April 4, 2012. Mild chili with garbanzo beans over roasted Yukon gold potatoes, sautéed zucchini, and baby greens with Mt. Townsend Creamery's truffled formage blanc and lime vinaigrette. The main thing you should take away from this recipe is the roasted potatoes. See what a lovely golden crisp I have around my potato's edge? Delicious. This works really well with fingerling potatoes, sliced lengthwise, and also sweet potatoes. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). 30 Day Dinner Challenge.

Family Meal: Season of Stew
http://ourfamilymeal.blogspot.com/2013/12/season-of-stew.html
Thursday, December 5, 2013. At first, my children were apprehensive. This was the only dish made that evening and they were hungry. Everything was all mixed in, which can be hit or miss for my little guys. Hunger won, and they ate what they could that night. With each subsequent stew since, they have gotten better. One night, I even got a, "Mmmmm," from Vincent. Boo-ya! I've been so bad about taking pictures, but here are a couple from the first stew. The little balls in there are Israeli cous cous.

Monday, May 14, 2012. Recently, we ordered mango sticky rice at a nearby Thai restaurant. I apparently only said "sticky rice," and when we got home, that's just what we got. Since then, I've been craving it. I've especially been craving it because I've actually been buying. Aka Champagne mangos), from Costco lately. I craved the rice part with the sweetened coconut milk. I found a recipe from. And tried it out, with a tiny adjustment. Anyway, here it is, in my words. And, a photo! 1 cup Raw Sticky Rice.

Saturday, February 28, 2015. Big 6 Year Old. Tonight, we let Tyler pick a friend to take out with us to his birthday dinner. He asked if we could invite his friend, Dash and Dash's older brother. Of course. This Pikachu shirt was a bday gift from his grandma (my mom). Happy 6th Birthday, Tyler! This photo was taken yesterday at school. Tyler got to celebrate his birthday with his classmates. I made the class cake pops. Today is Tyler's big day! And, he is "the best 2nd baby bear in the world.". Yup, he f...

Family Meal: March 2013

Thursday, March 14, 2013. Mojo Chicken, Cilantro Rice, Savory Black Beans. I have been dreaming of mojo chicken since culinary school. One of my chef instructors made it for us, and it was so damn good. But, I can't seem to recreate it the way she made it, nor can I find a recipe/method like hers. It wasn't part of the curriculum, either, so it's not in my (gigantic) recipe binder from that class. From macheesmo.com. But, I tweeked it work for my family. Marinate the chicken for at least 1 hour. In a ski...

Friday, January 25, 2013. Fish Tacos and Clams With Black Bean Sauce. I suddenly craved clams! Oh yeah, there was some Chinese celery in there, too. Not sure I needed it, but it didn't hurt things. I may have liked a little bit of pepper flakes, or even just white pepper, for a little kick. Such nice flavor, though. Red cabbage, carrots, shallots, cilantro, toasted sesame seeds, rice wine vinegar, sesame oil, salt, and white pepper. And, yaki soba noodles! Thursday, January 24, 2013. 1/4 cup olive oil.

Saturday, August 2, 2014. Summers Chugging Right Along. It's Blue Angels/Seafair weekend in Seattle. I feel like this is the height of summer. I love the Blue Angels. They are so amazing. Beyond the five of us, our extended family and our friends are also amazing. We were so fortunate to see some last week, while in Cleveland and Boston, that we haven't seen in a few years. Seeing them, and knowing they love and support us is truly comforting. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). George, goldi...

Saturday, May 24, 2014. Breading chicken tenders: right to left, flour, eggs,(seasoned) bread crumbs. [Note the package of Twix on the top right corner? Fried in a shallow pan, with peanut oil, approximately 4 minutes on each side . I recommend you check the inter nal temperature to make sure it is 165 F . Served alongside roasted asparagus and fingerling potatoes. My 7 year old requested I make kale chips a couple months ago. Fast forward to now, I finally made them. Pre heat oven to 350 f.
