Hegawn!: Sox pull trigger on huge trade of Rowand to Philly for Jim Thome.

Thoughts on the Chicago White Sox, baseball, bad TV, cheap beer, and more. Wednesday, November 23, 2005. Sox pull trigger on huge trade of Rowand to Philly for Jim Thome. So it's hello to Brian Anderson in Center Field next year, an experiment I'm willing to endure, given the promise he showed during his short stint in the majors this year, sitting in for an injured Scott Podsednik. Thome is due $42.5 million over the next 3 years, so how much will Philly kick in? Posted by Tim @ 3:21 PM.

Home Plate Squatter: May 2005
http://homeplatesquatter.blogspot.com/2005_05_01_archive.html
Posts of all things baseball . but mostly about the Chicago White Sox. Thursday, May 05, 2005. Sox beat up on the hapless Royals, sweeping them at home and improving to the league best 21-7 record with a 2-1 win in Chicago. Winning streak goes to 5. Sox have done well since they dropped 2 of 3 in Oakland, and it seems the injury problems won't last. Offense has been struggling, but the pitching has negated the lack of runs, for the most part. D Zack Greinke is 0-3, but not for the lack of trying. He ...

Home Plate Squatter: June 2005
http://homeplatesquatter.blogspot.com/2005_06_01_archive.html
Posts of all things baseball . but mostly about the Chicago White Sox. Sunday, June 19, 2005. Scatching out the wins. Another come-from-behind win for the White Sox. This team just refuses to go down. Some people just refuse to give this team credit. But it's a team with good quality pitching and hitters who can scrap together runs to get ahead. 3 Cliff Politte is simply dominating these days. I don't quite know what clicked, but he's simply blowing hitters away with his fastball. There's a reason why th...

Home Plate Squatter: April 2005
http://homeplatesquatter.blogspot.com/2005_04_01_archive.html
Posts of all things baseball . but mostly about the Chicago White Sox. Thursday, April 28, 2005. The Sox can't shake off the West Coast Syndrome, and they go 1-2 in the Oakland series by losing a close game Wednesday afternoon by the score of 2-1. They are now 16-6. I suppose it is somewhat of a comfort that the Sox kept it this close with all the injured players in the infield. C Willie Harris is swinging the bat pretty well so far, going 2-for-4 while spelling Tadahiro Iguchi at 2B. Harris is 9-for...

Hegawn!: November 2005
http://hegawn.blogspot.com/2005_11_01_archive.html
Thoughts on the Chicago White Sox, baseball, bad TV, cheap beer, and more. Wednesday, November 30, 2005. Meet Paul Konerko: White Sox Lifer. Or so it seems. The deal is apparently pretty straightforward: 5 years at $12 million per, with a limited no-trade provision that blocks the Sox from dealing him to just 6 teams in the future, so it seems like both sides gave a little and got a little (if you consider $60 million "little"). Posted by Tim @ 8:07 PM. Wednesday, November 23, 2005. The AP is reporting.

Thoughts on the Chicago White Sox, baseball, bad TV, cheap beer, and more. Saturday, November 19, 2005. Some news is good news. Small developments the last few days, most of them off the field. Pablo Ozuna was resigned. For one more year @ $500,000 if he's up with the team in the majors. A good signing; I think Pablo will be a bench guy for most if not all of the next year. Solid fielder with great speed. Comcast is going to be rebroadcasting. To start airing on Thanksgiving evening:. Life at 35th and Sh...

Hegawn!: More on Rowand-for-Thome
http://hegawn.blogspot.com/2005/11/more-on-rowand-for-thome.html
Thoughts on the Chicago White Sox, baseball, bad TV, cheap beer, and more. Wednesday, November 23, 2005. The AP is reporting. That the Phillies will be kicking in about half of Thome's salary over the next 3 years, or $22 million, which is a staggering sum. However, the White Sox are also sending over two minor league pitching prospects. Also: does KW have designs on a replacement Center Fielder? Juan Pierre, perhaps? Posted by Tim @ 4:42 PM.
