Honorable Carl F. Gerds III. Docket and Case Info. Honorable Carl Gerds III. Judge Gerds III is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, American Bar Association and Michigan District Judges Association. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from the University of Detroit and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Michigan Law School. The Court is served by one elected judge and one appointed magistrate. District Judges are elected on non-partisan ballots for terms of six years.

Honorable Carl F. Gerds III. Docket and Case Info. The 38th District Court Probation Department is responsible for the supervision of all individuals placed on Probation by Judge Gerds. Generally, there are 500 active cases. The staff consists of a Probation Officer and one volunteer. Probation officers investigate and supervise defendants who have not yet been sentenced to a term of incarceration. Listed below is the 38th District Court monthly Probation Report Schedule:.
