MV Encounter Bay, GYRW. The end of an era. Morse was on its way out, although still in use, SITOR telex and eventually Satcom were taking over. See the morse key tucked away between the main receiver (Redifon R5000) and the main transmitter. The telex keyboard is just visible. To the right of the main transmitter. I think that this was to be my last trip at sea, early 1991.

The SEE 3 Peaks Challenge!
In just a few short days the SEE Design team will attempt to complete the Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for the Railway Children. The challenge is to climb the highest mountains. In 2 days - that's over 3000m. Straight up in 48 hours! All money raised will go to the Railway Children. As an organisation, their primary aim is to change the lives of children living on the streets. Helping children in the UK, India and East Africa. Follow us : @SEE3peaks. And a PlayStation 3! I plan to use this site to record my journey from the Three Peaks to Iron Man. The first goal is to climb the 3 Peaks; Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis by foot, cycling the 450 miles between them.
