The schoolhouse is open is open Wednesdays and Saturdays from 1:00 to 4:00 PM from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Here is the schoolhouse in Fall 2010. Here is a picture of the schoolhouse that replaced the 1878 schoolhouse in 1886: it was known as the White School. The White School burned down in 1917 and was replaced by this brick schoolhouse in 1918. Design and hosting by dbr design.

This is the Internet homepage of the Fife Lake Area Historical Society. Nearly 140 years ago the state of Michigan decided that a road linking Traverse City and Midland was needed. A team of three men set out to survey the route, and the path they selected passed a beautiful lake that was as yet unnamed.
