land bridge to Africa: January 2010
http://landbridgetoafrica.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
Land bridge to Africa. Friday, January 29, 2010. First comment of the night was literally "yeah, my daughter told me you would be young" to which I laughed and then felt like I was going to be carded. Crackberry dad didn't put down his cell phone for the entire 15 mins. it took all of my strength not to make a joke about how cell phones are not allowed in the junior high. I didn't but now I wish I had. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Educating the world about geography, one awkward 7th grader at a time.

land bridge to Africa: February 2012

Land bridge to Africa. Tuesday, February 21, 2012. Hope they have an awesome time.". Every Monday, we have a student lead prayer over the intercom. I am not sure whether they volunteer or are chosen but either way, they are always clearly nervous. While they typically all pray for the same thing (good grades, no injuries during sports, etc) today was the best/worst moment of intercom prayer yet. When praying for people suffering from the famine in the horn of Africa, an 8th grade boy said the following:.

land bridge to Africa: September 2010
http://landbridgetoafrica.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Land bridge to Africa. Wednesday, September 22, 2010. There is quite a buzz around school now that the word is out that we're expecting. Apart from the constant name suggestions, a couple comments stand out as so funny/random that I feel they need to be shared:. Student 1: "You should name it Martin Luther King Jr.". Student 2: "um considering how famous he was, that would be.like.plagarism.". And my favorite from today:. Can I be the baby's step dad? Wednesday, September 15, 2010. We were talking in cla...

land bridge to Africa: June 2011
http://landbridgetoafrica.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Land bridge to Africa. Sunday, June 19, 2011. The Worm and Blind Justice. My third year of teaching was my first year of teaching single gender classes. I really loved having only one gender at a time, partially because I think I got to see my *real* students and not some semi-fake version meant to impress the other gender (which is funny because how impressive can a 7th grade boy really be? One of my favorite (yes, we all have favorites) boys decided about halfway through the year that he was a ninja...

land bridge to Africa: September 2009
http://landbridgetoafrica.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
Land bridge to Africa. Monday, September 28, 2009. Like mother, like son. We have conferences this Friday. They are student led meaning the student comes with his/her parents and lead each teacher through a conference handout that has been created by each teacher. Parents may opt to either have their conference at school with the teacher or at home. While my response to her was helpful, what I really wanted to say was "well now I know where he gets it.". land bridge to Africa: October 2009
http://landbridgetoafrica.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Land bridge to Africa. Thursday, October 15, 2009. I say "stop" a lot during my day. In the last 10 minutes, I've used this very important word in the following ways:. Stop clicking your pens. Stop drumming your pens. Stop slamming your books on your desks. Stop drawing on your arm. Stop whispering to your neighbor. AND my personal favorite. Stop coloring your hair. Monday, October 5, 2009. I had what might be the most annoying parent conversation of my teaching career so far today. I made the right choi...
