The Best Buttermilk Substitutions. October 7, 2009. Let’s take a quick minute to talk about buttermilk. Buttermilk is a slightly sour milk. The sourness of buttermilk comes acids in the milk, most notably, lactic acids. Because the proteins in buttermilk are slightly curdled, buttermilk is slightly thicker than regular milk, but not quite as thick as cream. Buttermilk is also usually much lower in fat than regular milk and cream. Buttermilk is an important part of baking. The acidic milk combined wit...

In a previous post I mentioned we were considering options for where Kayla will attend 6th grade. There aren't a whole lot of options. 1 She would go to the school she is zoned for. 2 We could possibly look at another middle school in our district; however, given the statistics of how students with intellectual disabilities are educated here. I don't think she would like staying at home.

Big Blueberry Eyes: His Kind Heart
http://mdbeau.blogspot.com/2015/06/his-kind-heart.html
Skip to right sidebar. Skip to left sidebar. Subscribe Now: Feed Icon. Subscribe in a reader. Tuesday, June 02, 2015. Lucas has such a kind heart. When he was in preschool he would often come home with something from the treasure box for Kayla; and one time he picked a ring for me ("Now you don't have to wear that. One [my wedding ring] anymore." he told me). He said he's pretty sure he could hear what she said and he repeated it to her by saying, "You said to J to say (x,y,z) to me? I tried to find out ...

Legacy of Hope Austin. Tuesday, November 4, 2008. A post in which I combine all sorts of seemingly unrelated little items that must go somewhere. Let's give a big round of applause for these folks, would ya? So in honor of Election Day, I thought I would make sure you knew about that other election you were all so curious about. I was honored to receive an Honorable Mention award in Scribbit's October Write Away contest. My entry was The Yellow Umbrella. Crazy Mama of 6. Steph at Problem Solvin' Mom.

Roasted Hatch Chile & Chicken Enchiladas. September 13, 2013. Tacos, Enchiladas and Quesadillas. I strongly dislike corn tortillas that haven’t been fried into chips. The flavor, the texture, the total pain-in-the-assness when it comes to cracking and rolling and splitting. But flour tortillas? And not just any leftovers – leftovers that get better over the next two days and make eating the same thing for lunch and dinner for 3 days NOT a chore. 1 hour looks a little time-consuming for a weeknight –...

They Come Back. - Suburban Scrawl

Ramblings From Thirty Miles West Of Chicago. August 9, 2015. Jim and I spent today driving up to Madison, Wisconsin, grabbing a moving truck, and moving our older son back home. Nothing bad happened; it’s just that the six-month internship he took on. Ended (as did his lease) and he hasn’t found a new place of employment yet. We don’t live in an ideal world. It’s amazing how a 23-year-old can fit all of his day-to-day belongings in the world in half of the smallest moving truck U-Haul rents out. Leave it...
