Slightly dark, slightly twisted, slightly odd. I’ve always loved Bottom. The comedy program that is, not the wobbly hairy things above a man’s legs. I love all the episodes (although the 3rd series went a bit downhill) but one of my favourites is ‘Apocalypse’. 8221; And here’s where I get to the point of this essay…. A bit of an extreme reaction, perhaps, but nonetheless that is exactly what I would be doing now if I was a celebrity over the age of fifty. Every time I see such a celeb on the telly I&...

Labyrinth – along the yellow line
https://alongtheyellowline.wordpress.com/labyrinth
Along the yellow line. As well as diamond geezer’s post. The project was launched in early February 2013, and the labyrinths are slowly appearing across the network. On this page I’m going to keep a track of those that I find. I won’t mention where they specifically are, as part of the joy of this installation is it’s interactive, treasure hunt nature. 2 Chalfont and Latimer. 55 Paddington (Bakerloo, District and Circle). 172 King’s Cross St. Pancras. 199 St Johns Wood. 213 Mill Hill East. Museums & Galleries – along the yellow line
https://alongtheyellowline.wordpress.com/museums-galleries
Along the yellow line. Time to launch another ongoing project – a betterment project you could say. Well certainly something that should be educational. So I’ve settled on museums and galleriesH. There must be thousands of places that would fall into this category, particularly if you include properties owned by the likes of The National Trust or English Heritage. So how to narrow down the selection, but ensure quality? British Museum, London (winner 2011 for. A History of the World in 100 Objects. The B...

Coffee – along the yellow line
https://alongtheyellowline.wordpress.com/coffee
Along the yellow line. For Christmas 2014 a kind soul gave me a small, but crammed book on the best coffee shops within London. These are, the book promises, some of the best coffee experiences that can be had in the capital, without the need to venture across the threshold of any establishment bearing a Costa, Starbucks or Caffe Nero sign above the door. What other delicacies are on offer: cakes, lunch, pastries? For the record I’m using the 2014 edition of The London Coffee Guide. Look Mum No Hands!

James Tait Black – along the yellow line
https://alongtheyellowline.wordpress.com/james-tait-black-prize
Along the yellow line. There are two James Tait Black Prizes. One for fiction, the other for biography. However, for the purposes of this blog I’m only going to focus on the fiction. The prizes were founded in 1919 by Janet Coats, the widow of James Tait Black, and they are awarded by the University of Edinburgh – the only awards of their type awarded by a university. Finally, I’m going to do this at my own pace – so no time limits! Red = read (obviously! Blue = owned, but not read. Black = all the rest.

Ramdom Recipes – along the yellow line
https://alongtheyellowline.wordpress.com/ramdom-recipes
Along the yellow line. I very much enjoy getting creative in the kitchen, particular if it involves trying out something new. I find it a particularly enjoyable way to while away weekend, especially on one of those rare weekends when you have a clear, unimpeded day. A post on the wonderful Teacups and Buttercups blog. I exaggerate, but try as much as you like you’ll never find everything you need in your local supermarket (even Waitrose! Snapper fillet with asparagus salad and soy dressing. A poem a day ...
