Principles for leading the way. Laquo; be out of control, be a better organization. Not giving 100% is key to success. March 29, 2010 by Jonathan Louie. One thing I really enjoy in March is the madness. Of the NCAA Basketball Tournament. There is nothing like seeing two teams give it their all to survive and advance. No one ever says, “I hope we can lay an egg and get lucky.” Maybe it’s poor sportsmanship to say such a thing, but my dad often said, “I’d rather be lucky t...I was watching Ali Farokhmanesh.

Principles for leading the way. I graduated with a BS in Marketing from The University of Arizona. And a Masters of Divinity from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary. Honestly, I’m a leadership newbie. Over the last few years I’ve worked in collegiate ministry, but understood over the last 3 or 4 years that I don’t have a good grasp of leadership. I have a great interest in leadership with a special focus in the change in leadership methods with the advent of social media. My MBTI is INTJ. How to fi...

Refining understanding and practice. Worshiping well for others. On Easter my church. Had Easter in the Park. After we ate my friend Nick Summers told me, “I like the way you worship.”. He proceeded to tell me how he liked it and just recently felt ready to raise his hand in worship. Nick was comparing how I worshiped with how he worshiped; and continued how he aspired to more freely express himself in worship. What are you supposed to say to someone who likes. If I can help people move closer to where t...

Refining understanding and practice. I don’t have a conclusion on this. I’d rather just start a discussion. Where in the Bible does God claim Himself to be all we should want or need? Worship songs tend to use lyrics that proclaim God is all we need, but where does God say that in Scripture? Laquo; worshiping well for others. Free to be awesome… or not. Date : December 2, 2010. I just discovered your blog, and I really love it. Keep posting! Thanks, I still have other ideas I’m working on, but I ha...

Refining understanding and practice. Free to be awesome… or not. Last week our worship leader sang amazing. Probably, the best she has sung in months, maybe in over a year, in my opinion/recollection. I was afraid to tell her that she sang better than she had in a long time, fearing I would imply that she hadn’t been singing to her potential. Then two verses came to me. One of them was because my awesome worship leader sent a passage for the team to read: Hebrews 12. Verse 28. Date : August 11, 2011.

Refining understanding and practice. Why matt redman is my favorite. As I have journeyed in learning about worship, one worship leaders/songwriter has stood out over all – Matt Redman. When I went to Passion LA Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman and David Crowder led worship (if there were others I can’t remember, it was some time ago). I left further impressed by Matt Redman. Why is second-person so important? If I say to you, “You are amazing! 8221; or “You are courageous! 8221; or “You are beautiful! And take ...

Refining understanding and practice. Worship is not an action alone. Since I just did several posts on the oft quoted John 4:23-24 I figured I’d tackle another oft quoted passage for understanding worship – Romans 12:1:. Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. I’ll be brief. The word for worship here is used also in Hebrews 9:1 and 6. Laquo; are you God’s worshiper? Why matt r...

Refining understanding and practice. I graduated with a BS in Marketing from The University of Arizona. And a Masters of Divinity from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary. Most of my church life since college has involved worship team participation. While I first got into it because I really liked music, now I’m in it more because I like how God works in and through worship. I am on the worship team at Second Mile. My MBTI is INTJ. The Quiet is Not Enough. The Quiet Really Is Not Enough. Things have been pretty quiet around here in 2010, but it’s not going to stay that way.
