Thoughts and happenings from the Student Ministers at 5:17church. Tuesday, November 18, 2008. Toowong Baptist Young Adults. Last Saturday night I had the chance to head to the Toowong Baptist Young Adults service. A mix from both the English side and Chinese side were in attendance in a cosy room where everyone was seated around small tables. Homeward Bound: Sad moment for SALT tonight
http://stevenandstephtran.blogspot.com/2009/03/sad-moment-for-salt-tonight.html
Thoughts and happenings from the Student Ministers at 5:17church. Friday, March 20, 2009. Sad moment for SALT tonight. Tonight we did our fifth study in the '10 Commandments' series in ' More studies to go. It was on commandment #5 - honouring our fathers and mothers. Because we're a predominantly Asian youth group I felt this particular study needed to stress that the reason we are obedient to our parents is not so that we score marks in being 'gwai' - but because it pleases God (cf Colossians 3:20.

Treasuring Christ: Deluge: You – Part 2
http://treasuringchrist.blogspot.com/2011/04/deluge-you-part-2.html
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (Mat 6:21). Friday, April 8, 2011. Deluge: You – Part 2. We’ve come to the end of a difficult but important journey. Suffering is one of the most contentious topics of our time. Yet we do everything to seek only comfort but suffering is avoided like a plague in spite of the fact that we need to come to grips with it, because we live in a world full of suffering, and as Christians it will knock on our door. According to James 5:13, we should pray.

Treasuring Christ: March 2011
http://treasuringchrist.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (Mat 6:21). Monday, March 21, 2011. Deluge: You - Part 1. We’ve seen over the past weeks, that Scripture teaches God is sovereign over natural disasters and He has temporal purposes in these things including. Mercy and Purification. We’ve also looked at the ultimate purpose for these events, which is the same as that for which the universe was created and for which His blameless Son was crucified: the exaltation of His glory. Cts 14:22 says that ...

Thoughts and happenings from the Student Ministers at 5:17church. Thursday, July 31, 2008. It seems like quop. Down to pop my head out and do a quick visual inspection along my side. There appeared to be nothing wrong until I parked at St Lucia and realised what had happened. So this afternoon I went to Super Cheap Auto and bought 4 replacement covers. You can see the difference in aesthetics in the comparison below. Labels: Car Wheel Covers. Tuesday, July 29, 2008. Last week we kicked off SALT's library!

Treasuring Christ: X-Ray Questions
http://treasuringchrist.blogspot.com/2011/04/x-ray-questions.html
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (Mat 6:21). Friday, April 15, 2011. Idolatry sometimes seems like the sin that is most removed from our post-modern reality, yet it is at the top of the list in the Decalogue. We pay so little attention to idolatry because it is least visible to us. Idol's hide in the dark recesses of our hearts, and our divided nature feeds and nurtures them. David Powlison, in his book,. Seeing with New Eyes,. 1 What do I worry about most? 5 What preoccupies me?
