The • 5199 • Project. Home of the Great Western Railway Locomotive 5199. 209 Large Prairies were built by both the GWR and British Rail. The history of Large Prairies is quite complex, but below is a quick summary of the class’ development. The 209 included 50 3100s that were rebuilt from 1927 onwards. 50 5101s were ordered in 1927, with a further 50 being built including 40 by BR in 1948/49 under the 4100 numbering scheme. 5164 (5164 Fund, based at the Severn Valley Railway). 4144 (Didcot Railway Centre).

In 1949 she transferred to Stourbridge Junction were she stayed until 1961 when she moved to Stafford Road in Wolverhampton.
