Somewhere between the old regime and the revolution
The Vietnamese are an exception to everything | 57th Street
https://57thstreet.wordpress.com/2008/04/06/the-vietnamese-are-an-exception-to-everything
Somewhere between the old regime and the revolution. The Vietnamese are an exception to everything. Leave a comment ». There’s an episode of The West Wing that aired right after September 11. It’s a special standalone episode about terrorism in which the idol for fifteen year old debaters (Rob Lowe) says that terrorism has a 100% failure rate. That didn’t happen. If anything Iraq is more likely to be dismantled but who knows how that war is going to turn out really. April 6, 2008 at 8:39 am. Fill in your...
Newsflash (not)! the news industry needs money | 57th Street
https://57thstreet.wordpress.com/2008/03/21/newsflash-not-the-news-industry-needs-money
Somewhere between the old regime and the revolution. The news industry needs money. Once upon a time, rich people used to give back to the public. A lot. There once was a noble breed of the wealthy that believed in a role of the elite as servants of society, using money to improve the world, even when there was no clear profit in the investment. It was the gratification that mattered. The Sulzbergers of The New York Times. The Grahams of The Washington Post. And the Bancrofts of The Wall Street Journal.

Somewhere between the old regime and the revolution. Pulitzer committee makes at least one good call. Junot Diaz’s The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao won the Pulitzer. For fiction. Despite a mediocre array of winners in the other categories this one definitely deserved it. April 11, 2008 at 6:08 am. Laquo; The Vietnamese are an exception to everything. Subscribe to comments with RSS. Bob Dylan won a Pulitzer too. April 11, 2008 at 1:10 pm. You mean fiction right? Or else I read the whole book very wrong.

Somewhere between the old regime and the revolution. I have no motivation to post anything. My brain is fried and I really have been trying to get our staff writers here to write something, obviously to no avail. Anyway, check out an online news and culture magazine that I write for! It’s Chicago based! I love it. It may seem a little strange at first but it’s really cool. March 27, 2008 at 3:39 pm. Laquo; Newsflash (not)! The news industry needs money. Somewhere between the old regime and the revolution. Fuck you Horace Greeley! Leave a comment ». The famous newspaper editor and politician Horace Greeley once called for the American people to “Go West! 8221; I have a few thoughts on that. And casual op-ed columnist, and author of the Times. 8216; Outposts blog. That alone strikes my history fancy, and there’s more! Write no evil: April 2007
http://writenoevil.blogspot.com/2007_04_01_archive.html
Somewhere between the old regime and the revolution. Sunday, April 22, 2007. The "no girls allowed" sign is becoming rarer and rarer. Economic study can't hang that sign anymore and neither can French presidential elections (read Segolene Royale), and the same goes for computer engineering. The Wall Street Journal. Recently reported that Susan Athey. The appeal of these superstars is not that they wear their womanhood as some kind of badge or identifier so that when they do succeed and surpass a man in a...

Somewhere between the old regime and the revolution. Sunday, March 9, 2008. Yes it's true, we're moving and more. We're moving to wordpress because WNE is really not the blog it once was. It's bigger, more demanding in the quality of writing, and really it requires more organization and space. We need an area for our musings and crap. We need a little separation and order. All this wordpress can provide and blogger cannot. Wwwwritenoevil.wordpress.com was already taken. Most important, the new name is al...
Write no evil: Poll Results: Everyone Is A Liar
http://writenoevil.blogspot.com/2008/03/poll-results-everyone-is-liar.html
Somewhere between the old regime and the revolution. Sunday, March 9, 2008. Poll Results: Everyone Is A Liar. Our most recent poll confirms what I have known since birth, which is that 50% of humanity are cowardly liars unable to acknowledge their own failings. So, it's not really "all" of you, but it worked better than anything else. When we asked you, the readers, what you were happiest about having back now that the TeeVee Writer's Strike was over you answered:. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
Write no evil: January 2008
http://writenoevil.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html
Somewhere between the old regime and the revolution. Thursday, January 31, 2008. Recently I've been getting into this hysterical British comedy, "Garth Marenghi's Darkplace," a spoof of trashy budget '80s dramas. It's sidesplitting, at least on the first view; although like most straight parodies it has little intrinsic appeal, its humor resting on irony. The laughs quickly fall off after repeated watchings. The Non Fiction Roundup. Ayesha Siddiqa's "Military Inc.: Inside Pakistan's Military Economy"...

Somewhere between the old regime and the revolution. Wednesday, March 28, 2007. After, In The Dark. Of interest to the editor:. Sometime in history did a bunch of students come together and, to spite future generations of scholars and youth, beg the higher powers to choose a month and schedule all the pressure makers in those 30 days? The only good part about this is that everyone is praying for a certain residence hall, school, summer job or internship, or college. You aren't alone! Where Is My Mind?

Somewhere between the old regime and the revolution. Sunday, March 2, 2008. First, an apology from the editor about the lack of posts lately. We're here. Most of the staff was on vacation though. Worry not! The r&r is over and we're pontificating again! Now for the poll results:. So this week we went on the external a little bit and explored what the most important event has been nationally and internationally and it was a tie. I'm a little surprised at the Cuba thing. As The New Yorker. With many more c...

Somewhere between the old regime and the revolution. Saturday, December 22, 2007. These are a few of my favorite things. I don't expect people to listen to me. I babble a lot, I'm just a reporter at The Michigan Daily, I'm just a history major. Nothing special. I'm an insignificant little speck. No biggie. I also don't expect people to share my interests ( certain television shows that are really good if you give them a chance. Below is Our Abilities:. Labels: The Bad Plus. Sunday, December 2, 2007.
Write no evil: Comic Strip "Perry Bible Fellowship" Becomes Semi-Retired
http://writenoevil.blogspot.com/2008/03/comic-strip-bible-fellowship-becomes.html
Somewhere between the old regime and the revolution. Wednesday, March 5, 2008. Comic Strip Perry Bible Fellowship Becomes Semi-Retired. In my continuing bid to claim the title of "Official WNE Comic Correspondent," I write to you all with sincere sadness at the news that Nicholas Gurewtich is moving his excellent comic strip Perry Bible Fellowship to the back burner. Gurewitch made the announcement fresh on the heels of releasing a book. Of selected strips, and appearing on Fox News (of all things).
