Saturday, May 9. What Happened to April? It was just here a minute ago. Now it's passed without a post. Huh.it was such a good month, too. Crazy good.I miss it already. What happened in April was a trip to Toroweap Overlook on the (remote) north rim of the Grand Canyon, a photo outing to Trona Pinnacles and my Mom's 88th Birthday. It was a busy month because there was also a celebration of photographer Ray McSavaney. At the Camera Committee. The Otis College Kite Festival. At the top of this post, you se...

Tuesday, November 4. On the banks of Big Pine Creek near Big Trees Campground. Nearby, on the edge of the creek. This would be a nice place to work on a hot day if you had a basket full of grain that needed grinding. You could dips your hands and feet in the icy cold water. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Tuesday, April 15. Flash post - Hummingbirds. Feeling compelled to post so you won't worry that I've been hit by a bus. Here are some pictures and a few words. On Sunday, my friend Allan led a CamCo workshop on photographing hummingbirds in the Huntington Beach Central Park. I facilitated and soaked up as much instruction as I could from Allan and the other participants. You can see the photos posted by our participants in this Meetup gallery. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Downstairs on Cashio Street: New Photo Work
http://www.cashiost.com/2015/03/new-photo-work.html
Sunday, March 15. In my pre-retirement/unemployment days, I am hoping to hone my photo skills - especially visualization and printing. I've made a folder. In my Picasa page for new work and hope to post images there that are nearing completion. These will be items I would show my pals for feedback. I hope folks will post a comment or dash off a note of critique. Thanks for looking in occasionally. Comments are moderated to weed out the riff-raff, so your message will not appear immediately.

Downstairs on Cashio Street: June 2014

Sunday, June 22. A "New" Pie Crust - Mom's Favorite. Today, I had planned to make Smitten Kitchen's Apple Slab Pie. But it's summer solstice, I had stone fruit instead of apples. And on such a beautiful summer afternoon, I jettisoned Deb's buttery pie crust in favor of something less finicky. And for the four of us, I made a small and round instead of a big and party-size rectangular. In reality, I guess I was making a peach-nectarine "slabbette" after the Smitten Kitchen model. But okay - it's my Mom.

Wednesday, October 22. This wisp of a moon met Janet and me on our walk this morning. Monday, October 20. Out There - Bishop Volcanic Tablelands. What were the motivations and messages of the ancient ones? These photos represent just a few examples of the imagery found in the BVT. Click to enlarge any image, but especially this wide shot. It's a bit of detail from a long wall full of petroglyths. The "curling" rock formations below are unusual even for this striking volcanic landscape. Saturday, October 4.

Downstairs on Cashio Street: February 2014

Sunday, February 9. Rainy days in San Francisco. No picture again but since I have time to spare, I thought I'd make a quick post. Janet and I are waiting for time to go to the airport at the end of a lovely (if rainy) weekend in San Francisco. He greeted fans and signed CDs between sets. We hung out after our show and hoped to get into the next one but no luck. After breakfast at the Beachside Coffee Bar and Kitchen. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Downstairs on Cashio Street. Downstairs on Cashio Street: A Night in Black Rock
http://www.cashiost.com/2015/03/a-night-in-black-rock.html
Saturday, March 21. A Night in Black Rock. Weird Sisters in Joshua Tree. Black Rock is the campground on the north side of Joshua Tree National Park where my companion for the trip gave me a clue about focusing my camera for night sky photos. He mentioned in a casual conversation over carrot cake that the default position for an electronically-focused lens is infinity. I had to experiment and snapped several frames on the table top (sans tripod). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Are you lookin' for.
