waveman: December 2005
http://waveman007.blogspot.com/2005_12_01_archive.html
Friday, December 30, 2005. I went to see the Threepenny Opera. In the St. Pauli Theater. Last night. It's a great play and the cast was excellent. I have a few tunes stuck in my head right now. The theater is tiny and it's quite an event to see a live performance. Beats the movies hands down. Mental note to do things like this more often (hm - this could be a nice New Year's resolution). waveman: Thinkpad X40 DIY SSD
http://waveman007.blogspot.com/2008/02/thinkpad-x40-diy-ssd.html
Wednesday, February 27, 2008. Thinkpad X40 DIY SSD. I recently got a Thinkpad X40. From IBM's certified used equipment. And it's an absolutely gorgeous machine! In fact, I'm sitting in a local coffee shop right now having a lazy Saturday morning and writing this post on my new laptop. I've always been tempted by the X-Series Thinkpads, because of their tiny, ultra-portable form factor. It's not quite like the MacBook Air. But pretty darn close (and Lenovo just announced the X300. In contrast to the SATA-...

waveman: My Travel Rules
http://waveman007.blogspot.com/2007/12/my-travel-rules.html
Sunday, December 23, 2007. I am just emerging from a truly horrific travel odyssey trying to fly from San Francisco via London to Hamburg. More on this later. For now, I'm going to collect my travel rules, which I should have obeyed in the first place (rule #1 that is). If you have to change planes, allow at least 3 hours for the switch. Do not switch planes in Paris (service) or Heathrow (weather). If you get stuck, do not leave the secure area. Posted by waveman at 15:03. San Jose, CA.

waveman: May 2005

Monday, May 30, 2005. This Memorial Day has turned into a web-surf'athon. I know, I know - the weather is awesome (at least in CA). I think we'll BBQ later, so I'll catch my much needed dose of fresh air then. It's been a long time since I actually enjoyed just randomly browsing the web. I wonder if the web has gotten better - but I just seemed to stumble into lots of great sites. Check out http:/ www.threadless.com. Community based t-shirt art! waveman: October 2005
http://waveman007.blogspot.com/2005_10_01_archive.html
Sunday, October 09, 2005. I went to an exhibition of photographs by a friend of mine yesterday. Alex has been into photography for a while, and I really admire that he's taking it to the next level. I like his pictures a lot and think they can compete with professional artists (but hey, how would I know? I'm thinking about getting one for my new office. Take a look for yourself at his website. waveman: Surgery Videos
http://waveman007.blogspot.com/2007/09/surgery-videos.html
Sunday, September 16, 2007. My surgeon told me that I would receive a DVD of the whole procedure. I found that a bit odd, but it's also pretty awesome. I wonder if this is a requirement for insurance purposes. I was also surprised how very not gory the recordings are. I know it's still a bit gross, but it's really much more interesting than it is gross. The second recording takes a look around the knee, patella, missing acl, torn meniscus while the surgeon applies a local anesthesia. (4:42). San Jose, CA.

waveman: September 2005
http://waveman007.blogspot.com/2005_09_01_archive.html
Monday, September 19, 2005. I spent the whole day at UC Santa Cruz, getting ready to start my first graduate class. I took a "spoken English" test, checked in with the international student organization, ordered parking tickets and got my student id. yay! Big surprise when trying to attend the first lecture - instruction doesn't start until next week! Joerg and I got confused by the online student tool, which did show a lecture for today. D'oh!
