Tuesday, 9 April 2013. Ahead of schedule for the first time. A great day today. The lads made nearly 26 km (14 nautical miles), as there were no open. Water crossings or ice rubble to hold them back. It's still sunny, albeit with a bit of a wind and. They are in great spirits. When they spoke to the Russian base camp today, they. Thursday, 4 April 2013. Ice crossing feels like 'sagging plastic'. The team remain on schedule. Myrek, the Russian guide has a small injury but it is not really slowing them down. He is 62, but pretty tough. Weather still about - 30 degrees and dull today, but they are all feeling good. The whole team completed a crossing of new ice today: it felt like plastic and sagged as they crossed! Yet they made 20 km and are getting into a good rhythm- eat, sleep, ski and listen to each other's choices of music!

There are only 20 kms to do. The progress today was exciting- they. Crossed areas of moving ice, heaving like tectonic plates with bits. Bursting up and others sinking; it looked like white lava flow- glad. To say they left this area swiftly. They are aiming to try for the Pole tomorrow but there is a huge.
