Kick the tyres and light the fires. Thursday, December 31, 2009. Over the past couple of days, i. N our continuing quest to improve our products and methods of manufacture, we designed and built this Spring-Loaded Engraving Tool, which helps to counteract any inconsistencies in the levels of the material to be engraved. As a measure of scale, the engraver cutting tool has a diameter of 6mm. So far it seems to be working very well ! Links to this post. Wednesday, December 23, 2009. An updated video of the...

Kick the tyres and light the fires. Wednesday, April 21, 2010. From sim parts to real ones! Here's a clip of the (prototype) Furio in action:. She's a racy little beauty! The following photographs detail the process:. This is the ini...

It was a nice surprise to receive a link to the following video clip in my inbox this morning: a 'power on' update of the Furio mentioned in my last post. There's some nice shots of our panels on display and under working conditions too, which is a delight to see. Such a beautiful little plane! Edit: And here's a clearer photograph of the main instrument panel. Links to this post. Wednesday, April 21, 2010. It was a luxu...

Kick the tyres and light the fires. Sunday, April 18, 2010. Warbirds Over Wanaka 2010. As well as being a pleasant drive through a beautiful part of our country, following are some photographs I took at the event itself - and seeing as I've already mentioned the DC3, that aircraft seems as good a place to start as any . Barrel rolling around the DC3 - how else would one announce another plane's arrival at an airshow? The Japanese Zero flying amidst a backdrop of some majestic 'Lord Of The Rings' scenery.

Kick the tyres & light the fires: November 2009

Kick the tyres and light the fires. Thursday, November 26, 2009. Upgrade of the Captain's Flight Instruments. One of the problems with changing the monitors however, is that they mount in a totally different manner and the heights are totally wrong now, but with a bit of trickery I've fitted the LCD screens upside down and inverted the display coming from the video card. And here's the end result with the front panel put back on again:. A solution will be found for this later on. Links to this post.

Kick the tyres and light the fires. Thursday, October 29, 2009. Early stages of the ATR72 Throttle Quadrant. From photos and other pieces of information I'd collected from a wide range of sources, and with some minor adaptations to suit both my abilities and the material available, here's how it all started life . The flaps lever and the gust-lock lever are made from some stainless steel. Tube, which was found just laying around in the workshop - or rather, awaiting its purpose. There's. The park brake l...
