Thoughts on life as a teacher in New York City. And other stuff too. Monday, January 18, 2010. On this wonderful day off from school in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., I just spent a few moments with my coffee and some thoughts of Mr. Arne Duncan, Education Secretary for this here US of A. Said thoughts are about the teaching profession, a subject I have just a little bit of passion for. Here's the whole piece, worth a gander I think. Thoughts on life as a teacher in New York City. And other stuff too. Wednesday, April 14, 2010. Since yesterday's posting was a little on the dark side of things, I thought I'd start today off with a little bit of positivity. First off, it's a beautiful Spring day. The sun is shining and my zyrtec is so far working. Second, it's a Wednesday. Finally, something really awesome and amazing happened last Friday. The show was really freaking good. Sticks for a little while. Tuesday, April 13, 2010. And yes, r...

Thoughts on life as a teacher in New York City. And other stuff too. Tuesday, November 16, 2010. Tagging Desks and Other Gripes. GBABY" and other tags are scratched in pen on my classrooom tables semi-permantely. (Alas, Lysol wipes can only erase so much.). Is it because they're bored and can't think of anything else to do? Is it just plain fun? Pointless, cheap, and sadly, expected.

October 25, 2008. October, don't go! My weekend plans revolve around the kitchen: pumpkin bread, eggplant lasagna, cranberry scones. Last night I bought two baking dishes and a cookie sheet, so I can operate the oven in a more assembly-line fashion. Tomorrow night I'm hosting book club for the premiere time. We read Dracula. No Not even considering it. Enjoy these last few days of . (Bush? Bake in blissful ignorance. . Which has a flag-draped Drew Barrymore on the cover. (Wha? However, is thick, glossy,...
