Fitting The Vacuum Circuit Breaker. All of the Freightliner 86/6s have now been fitted with VCBs by Carl Holt working at the LNWR (now Arriva) site. 86259 was therefore the last loco to be modified, inevitably with modifications to the device's fittings due to the slight difference between 86/6s and 86/2s. Euston station 23rd October 1979. 6-year-old Ian Hull points at the nameplate he has just unveiled on 86259, then described as a London Midland Region Inter-City loco. Ian is accompanied by his mates whose flares give away that it is definitely the 70s. The Re-Paint at Washwood Heath - Part 2. After the 6th October 2012 PMR trip 86259 took the empty coaching stock back to Carnforth and then came back south as far as the West Midlands for a final coat of electric blue at Boden's Rail Engineering in Washwood Heath. November 2012 and 86259's webmaster, Jim Storey, pays a visit. By mid-December the paintwork was finished and 86259 was housed by Devon and Cornwall Railways ("DCR") at Washwood Heath until the New Year. A chance to get the bogies painted.
