Owning and driving a Porsche 911 SC. A beginners adventure in classic sports car ownership. May 11, 2015. My goal for today was to fit the driveshafts and take the car for a short test drive. Unfortunately that did not happen as I found out that the flanges on the new boots are thinner than the old ones and that make the bolts interfere with the brake discs, totally locking them up. On the gearbox side there is more space so I could at least fit the inner joints. This entry was posted in Maintenance.

Fitting the CV joints to the driveshafts turned out to be a bigger challenge than I expected it to be. The problem has been that the locking ring at the end of the axle won’t seat properly in its groove. The paint was originally Palisander Metallic (also known as Rosewood) but I am changing it to my favorite auto paint color: BLACK! Thursday, March 1, 2007. 1981 Porsche 911 SC Targa - Before.
