Thursday, February 7, 2008. I have to say I disagree with you on Okonkwo. I hated him he brought everything upon himself except for the accidental killing of the young boy. The book was really good because of its look at daily life, customs, religious beliefs, etc. Much better job explaining African culture than I could ever hope to provide, so Achebe's book delivers here. Monday, January 28, 2008. I think that Ikemefuna helped Okonkwo in a way. When Ikemefuna was placed in Okonkwo's care, Nwoye, the eldest son of Okonkwo, looked up to him. This helped Okonkwo because Nwoye was showing signs of laziness, and that is the single thing that Okonkwo hates the most.
