CBR Frocktails Flutter Dress. Photo taken by Michelle, CBR Frocktails at Hotel Hotel. The fabric suggestion is light to medium weight but I chose a textured heavy weight fabric that was labelled silk (but silly didn't write the name down), bought at Tessuti in Melbourne last year with Nici. When I was down for the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibition. The underside is just a teensy bit scratchy so I underlined the bodice with a voile, which also meant that I didn't need to bind the neckline. Pauline Alice has o...

top notch: FINISHED! Denim Xerea dress
http://kbfield.blogspot.com/2015/08/finished-denim-xerea-dress.html
This last weekend I was supposed to go to Frocktails in Melbourne but given my son was sick (he is much better now) I cancelled at the last minute and found myself at home and itching to sew for the first time in ages. I decided to start the new Xerea. Dress by Pauline Alice. I bought some light coloured denim from Addicted to Fabric. The last of the roll) and before I knew it, I'd finished it and if I could I would have worn it everyday since! This is a hugely satisfying make. It's oh so quick! The fabr...

When the Spring Summer 2015 Pictures and Conversations. Liberty fabric collection was released I was immediately drawn to the garish colours of Oxford A. I then proceeded to go on holidays and delay any Liberty fabric buying until I returned. Several months passed and I still hadn't caught up with the latest Liberty release. The shame! But I was quickly kicked into action when I saw Tilly's. Pussy bow blouse (in colourway B) and Anna's. Top Both reminded me how much I liked this print. Oxford Liberty fab...

The inside out cocoon cardigan. It's a little bit embarrassing to admit that for the second week in a row, I've. Been inspired by the Project Sewn outfit by Groovy Baby and Mama. This week it is the Burda Cocoon Cardigan. I bought and taped up the pattern on Thursday and on Friday raced off and bought 2 metres of the fabric in my lunch hour, only to find from the lovely ladies at A2F that my assumption of what was the right and wrong sides was completely wrong. Never mind, I prefer the wrong side. I took...

May 17, 2015. Amanda vs Moneta and Violet Mega Dress. Seriously. This thing is stealth pyjamas. Hold on to you teddy bears and fluffy pillow kids- this is the Moneta and Violet hybrid knit frock. To achieve the greatness of stealth PJs there are several steps that must be undertaken. First, acquire the comfiest fabric ever. This glorious faux-quilted poly rayon blend is from Addicted to Fabric. The next step to stealth PJs is to get a comfy pattern. If, like me, you are crazy picky and want a scooped...

Back in April, I was admiring on instagram some fabulous fabric picked up by Melanie. Miss Piggy Eats) at the Fabric Cave, when she so kindly said that she would send me her leftovers. I couldn't believe my luck. Stripes and in a fabulous bright mustard shade! Melanie had made up a fab Mandy Tee. And fortunately had quite a bit left over. I had it washed and ready to sew within a nano second of receiving it. My idea was to sew up a coco using this. Sans hoodie). I'm all about the designer Stella Jean.

Who’s a Clever Tinker? July 30, 2015. After over 5 years of blogging at ‘little betty sews’ it was time to change. I started blogging with a baby girl, who was just months old, and two wild little boys. I was a year into my Masters to become a teacher and I needed to earn a little extra cash. So in addition to getting a night job, I started sewing for money. I made kids clothes initially, which I sold at local markets, then I developed my bonnet pattern,. Bye, Bye Betty! My name’s not Betty! July 29, 2015.
