The simple backstitch (going forward by two stitches underneath and going back one on top) is being used by Jo Roberts to create a comfort blanket. Following her initial explorations of Digbeth and Bordesley Jo is currently working on a series of personal maps that has been stitched to create a 'comfort blanket'. We will be exhibiting the finished work and associated drawing at A3 in Autumn 2015. Jo Roberts is a visual artist who combines drawing, words and stitch to create maps - and more.

The simple backstitch, going forward by two stitches underneath the fabric and then going back one on top, is a stitch that Jo Roberts uses along with pencil and pen to create autobiographical maps. 20, 21, 27, 28 and 29 March, 12pm - 5pm. Final screening event Fri 3 April 6.15pm. Shot in Black and white 8mm film, Colour 16mm film and HD video, Chris Paul Daniels creates rapid portraits and glimpses of lives from residents and workers of the Digbeth and Bordesley.
