April 3, 2015. An Early Morning Spin On 49M With The Sproutie. Filed under: Amateur Radio. 8212; AA7EE @ 5:04 pm. And thinking that I might as well make use of the fact that I was up at 5:30am, while night-time and grey-line propagation on 49M would be in full swing. Coffee at the ready, I decided to perform a band scan on 49M with The Sproutie. The idea was to log every station I could hear on the band. The excellent site short-wave.info. Needless to say, I heard a lot of Chinese. Regen doesn’t cu...

N8WQ - QRP Workshop. Monday, October 28, 2013. Ugly Weekender Build - Part 1. A few weeks ago I was given a set of three pcb's for the Ugly Weekender Transceiver by Ed Manuel, N5EM. A short time afterward, Bill Phinizy, K6WHP invited me to build the transceiver with him as a group project. Bill and I will be documenting our build on our blogs. N8WQ - QRP Workshop. Monday, May 28, 2012. The Improved Neophyte Receiver: Part 3. At the Dayton Hamvention 2012 gathering I made sure that I stopped by Hendricks QRP booth and said "hi" to Doug Hendricks and Stever Weber. I asked Doug if he had any KD1JV Digital Dial in stock. Http:/ www.qrpkits.com/freqcounter.html. The only other modification that I want to do next is to add either a fine tuning capacitor or varicap diode to the circuit. A New Soldering Iron. N8WQ - QRP Workshop. Thursday, January 2, 2014. Ugly Weekender Build - Part 2. My build progress of the Ugly Weekender was slowed down by the constant supply of parts coming into the QRP Workshop. Those parts had to be sorted, labeled, and stored. I can now find any resistor or capacitor value in my collection in seconds. I am working on my inductor collection next. Just for a quick test I connected up a 9 volt battery for my power supply. So here is what I accomplished today:. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

N8WQ - QRP Workshop. Wednesday, June 29, 2016. SW30 Transceiver - Part 1. I often thought about building the SW30 Transceiver by designer Dave Benson K1SWL of Small Wonder Labs. K2ZA - Explorations in Amateur Radio. Amateur Radio, Electronics and Miscellany. Saturday, February 19, 2011. A wonderful afternoon in the SolderSmoke shack. As my father was gifted with "the Knack" and a fellow devotee of the fire bottle, and Bill had mentioned on a podcast episode that he regretted letting the DX-100 of his youth slip away, it seemed right that my Dad's transmitter should find a new home in Northern Virginia. Fire Bottle = Thermionic Valve = Vacuum Tube. Links to this post. Michael J&#...
