April Showers

Wednesday, May 27, 2009. Harvested enough peas for a picnic and some left over.four squares worth are producing (my first two plantings) and I should harvest the third planting in a day or so. The first nastritum opened a day or two ago. I don't think there are even any more buds, but it is a striking orange flower. It puts the marigolds I just planted to shame. The beans have blossoms on today. I planted another square a day or so ago. Monday, April 13, 2009. Put in first square of beans a few days ago.

Thursday, February 12, 2009. I got a new list of dates to plant by. This one from the seed company down the street and they say peas and spinach can go in Feb. 1. Since the weather has been so warm and sunny, and I've been itching to plant anyway, I put them in today. Monday, November 10, 2008. Unbelievably, my tomato plants still have blossoms and green tomatoes. Gardening in the south is crazy. I put in another batch of peas (not Territorial) at the beginning of October (I think). I didn't get really good germination only about 4 of 12, but there are blossoms on the plants that grew. Sunday, November 23, 2008. Green Tomatoes and Peas. We had fried green tomatoes for lunch on Tuesday (Nov. 18). I think that the reason they are common in the South is that the tomatoes are still growing. I picked them because the weather was getting cold enough the vines were, finally, starting to wilt. We traveled from the hotel to the market area in a "tuk tuk", a local convayence consisting of a small Honda 125 moterbike pulling a small trailer with seats for four and a welded frame with a covered roof. Friday, March 12, 2010. For those who are interested, here's some video of me (and friend/instructor Ashraf sometimes in the passenger seat). I was "signed off" to drive without an instructor, meaning I have progressed from novice to intermediate to advanced to solo in only 6 track days.
