Friday, April 01, 2005. When life is a bad joke:. So the Pope, a lawyer, a comedian, and a political icon all meet up in heaven.'. Posted by JW at 7:20 PM. Overall I'd say the whole stage-sharing thing went pretty well, it's the kind of event that's fun to see every once in a while. At its best, it was one band bringing out their skills in order to better the other. At its worst, it was two bands fooling around, patting each other on the back. Or maybe it's the other way around. Friday, April 22, 2005. Better at soccer last night, but sore in different regions today. I'm still waiting on my car, as the guys at VW Boston try for the fourth time to fix my instrument cluster. I'm regretting asking them to just check out why my indicator chime sounded slightly off. I'll leave the story at that, as it's about as uninteresting as it is complicated. Today I think I'm something of a mix between 3,6, and 12, but not to a threatening degree. On a more serious note, check out.

Wednesday, May 11, 2005. Then today I read Rasheed's page. Someday I'll drink as much coffee as my body can handle, lock myself in an empty room, and blast nothing but System of a Down and The Mars Volta. Maybe it'll defibrillate my personality from the 'hey, who was that guy who stood here the whole time and said nothing' entity to something a bit more interesting.or maybe I'll go too far and become a sociopath by the time I hit 'Chop Suey'. Friday, March 11, 2005. Tv is the most passive form of entertainment or learning. Think about how much more information is presented in books than on screen. How often do you hear 'well, the book was good, but it didn't go into as much detail as the movie.'? That being said, my roomate just got disc one of many of 'The Wire', HBO's serial about law enforcement in Baltimore, so this may be the last post I submit for a while. Posted by JW at 2:12 PM. Thursday, March 10, 2005. I go to the gym regularly.

Thursday, March 17, 2005. One rule of nature that never seems to fail me: regardless of which health club I'm at, or which locker I choose, there will always be a completely naked old guy within 15 feet of me when I return to collect my things. There's no escaping it. Posted by JW at 3:10 PM. Wednesday, March 16, 2005. Great album from the Los Angeles based punk band. This cd had me two-thirds of the way through the first song, 'Heart Attack American', with the solid backbeat drumming and chunky stab...

Friday, March 25, 2005. I took a nap today after dinner and passed out to Radiohead's. I awoke as the sun was going down behind the houses across the street (about a half hour before this picture was taken), and in my warm, sleepy haze listened to the robotic voice and melancholy piano of 'Fitter Happier'. Fitter happier more productive. Not drinking too much. Regular exercise at the gym (3 days a week). Eating well (no more microwave dinners or saturated fats). A patient better driver. Agents of an oil ...

Friday, March 04, 2005. Is there any bigger a sign of a habitually impatient person than when one pushes the 'close door' button on an elevator? You're already saving time and energy just being there in the first place. How important are those 7 seconds? Posted by JW at 4:25 PM. It'd be nice if I could go one day without hearing or reading the word 'diva'. Same with 'heart' as a verb. Posted by JW at 1:15 PM. Thursday, March 03, 2005. Posted by JW at 4:28 PM. Friday, April 15, 2005. In my ongoing efforts to step boldly outside my 'comfort zone' and try new things, last night I played my first indoor soccer game in the league I signed up for. I realized that taking almost 6 years off from competitive soccer might be a bit of a disadvantage for me, but I figured what the hell, it's good exercise. I'm in decent shape, I should be able to keep up, right? I put my body through a type of hell I haven't experienced in years, but now that I'm on the mend, I'm actuall...

Friday, July 01, 2005. How to write a hit nu-metal song:. Guitar: Start by selecting the clean channel on your amp, and pick through some open chords on your PRS. After finding a pleasant sounding phrase, have your singer write the first verse over it. You'll return to this later just after the solo and before the final chorus. Vocals: Jut out your chin and sing from your throat to get that deep Scott Stapp-esque growl. If you can't do this, quit and switch to emo. Bass: Just try to hang out in the back ...

Friday, July 22, 2005. A soccer ball to the eye - leading to a slight infection - coupled with my glasses breaking in half a day later, has left me wearing only one contact lens. Here's a short list:. This week's top tasks thrown off by a damaged perception of depth:. Stepping off a bus. Grabbing a french fry off a plate. Hitting the floor button on an elevator.
