Photographing abandoned places could perhaps be said as capturing a fragment of ones own personality as well as the viewers who admire and connects to such genre. This monochrome image was taken at the Spencer Shops. That's a beautiful shot. As a current employee of the N.C. Transportation Museum (what Spencer Shops has become over the past 20 years) it is especially meaningful to me to see the state of the Roundhouse then, versus the current, restored Roundhouse....Thank you...

Is an old abandoned gold town once popular in the late 1800's and early 1900's It has many of its old abandoned cabins and commercial structures still standing, this interesting and inspiring place hidden in the mountains is great place to visit if ever in the region. Sunday, March 29, 2009. Photographed in Forsyth County North Carolina in 1981 this homestead was once part of a big farm that was found on a backroad while I was touring the area, it appears to be a very early 1800 structure built of log slabs and filler. I originally photographed it in color 35mm film but decided to converted it to B/W with Photoshop to capture its historic character. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Sunday, February 15, 2009. East Mountain in Vermont once housed the Air Forces ground-based air facility for the military. Originally named the North Concord Air Force Station it was constructed in 1952, in 1961 it reported a UFO sighting that lasted roughly eighteen minutes and a few hours before the alleged abduction of Barney and Betty Hill. That was made famous by a book. And later by a TV movie. A great report on the area with images can be found here. And is well worth a look. Friday, June 26, 2009. While visiting western North Carolina in 1999 I had the chance to visit Bryson City. An old railroad town that today is part of the Great Smoky Mountain Railway. On the tracks across from the station sat an abandoned American Federail mail car most likely from the 1940-1950's era. Photographed with 35mm film. Links to this post. Labels: 35mm black and white photography. Sunday, June 7, 2009. Old Iron Ore Cart. This was photographed in Garnet Montana. Was once a very active place, its early history is unclear at the time of this posting but my best guess perhaps would be it was built in the late 1930's or early 1940's. During the 1970's it was a hot spot nightclub for young adults from the surrounding towns as well as out of state individuals many whom owned homes around the lake. Friday the 13th part 2. Wednesday, April 15, 2009. In the city of High Point North Carolina used to be an old tourist attraction most likely from the 1930's-1940's from my best guess and is unknown by many to this day as Carter Town, it sat on the outskirts of the city limits though only about a ten minute drive from the cities center. I was fortunate enough to be part of its memories even though it was just for a few short years, I wish I knew more about its history but I'm having no luck researching it online. Hey everybody, ...
