Abandoned Homes and Gardens: June 2010

http://abandonedhomesandgardens.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html

Abandoned Homes and Gardens. The Beginning of the End. While this might be somewhat presumptuous, as two former, paid archaeologists, D and I are bringing you this blog to analyze and interpret the decay of the midwest (and elsewhere) like nobodys business. After all, were trained professionals. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). This is a Flickr badge showing items in a set called Abandoned Homes and Gardens. Make your own badge here. Abandoned Homes and Gardens: The Snowpacalypse

http://abandonedhomesandgardens.blogspot.com/2011/02/snowpacalypse.html

Abandoned Homes and Gardens. I'll be the first person to admit that I hate winter. I hate the cold, I hate the bleak skies, I hate how long it lasts, I hate the grey snow and I hate how it's hard for me to deal with. Winter is just not my thing. Unfortunately I've never been able to get away from it. One of my big life goals is simply to spend winter once in a warm place where they don't have SAD. That's almost erased this month's massive amounts of snow, I'm starting to feel a flicker of hope.

Abandoned Homes and Gardens: July 2010

http://abandonedhomesandgardens.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html

Abandoned Homes and Gardens. Haeger Pottery, Macomb, IL. A few weeks ago, D and I were wandering around Macomb, IL and we decided to stop by one of the places that used to make Macomb more artsy than your typical drunken college town. The Haeger Pottery Plant has unfortunately been shut down since 2004. Although there have been a few plans to renovate the property (the most recent one was a proposed condo development) all of them have fallen through and today it sits empty. Spotted: OEN Foundry Stamp.

Abandoned Homes and Gardens: Spotted: Smith-Hill F&M Co, Quincy ILL

http://abandonedhomesandgardens.blogspot.com/2010/12/spotted-smith-hill-f-co-quincy-ill.html

Abandoned Homes and Gardens. Spotted: Smith-Hill F&M Co, Quincy ILL. This Smith-Hill makers mark is found on the plinth of a building in Colchester, IL. The Smith-Hill Factory and Manufacturing Co also made elevators in Quincy, IL, according to the Official Catalogue of the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition. It would later become the Smith-Hill Elevator Co, and then part of the Otis Elevator Company as part of "The Elevator Trust." (ref). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Make your own badge here.

Abandoned Homes and Gardens: November 2010

http://abandonedhomesandgardens.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html

Abandoned Homes and Gardens. Ghost Signs: J.F. Reynolds-Day 20. This last ghost sign (for now, of course) is hidden between tall buildings in Macomb, IL. Ghost Signs: Dry Goods and Dave's Day 19. These two ghost signs are on the side of another building in Nauvoo, IL. Its a pretty long building. The faint ghost sign in the back reads Dry Goods and according to the Nauvoo Historical Society walking tour the building was a dry goods store from 1891 until the 1920s. Back to Bull Durham as promised! Ghost Si...

abandonedhome | Just another WordPress.com site

Just another WordPress.com site. Youth Migration and population influence in todays world A form of Abandoned Home. July 7, 2011. Because it involves a change from place of origin to place of destination, migration has both a separative and an additive effect and both aspects are relevant to an understanding of why people move. The reason people crowd into cities is that cities provide jobs and educational opportunities, support libraries, museums, theatres, the making for truly rewarding living. The...
