At the beginning of the 1990s the interest in seeking out and identifying mushrooms and toadstools in the UK saw a strong increase due to the highly successful Channel 4 TV series,. The Fungus Conservation Trust provides a range of not-for-profit resources designed to cater to the needs of amateur field mycologists. Amateur is probably a misleading term because there are virtually no professioal field mycologists in the UK. Tuesday, 21 October 2014. Queen of Spain Fritillary (Issoria lathonia). Although females have been seen egg-laying, neither larvae nor pupae have been found in the wild except in the Channel Islands, where larvae were found in 1950. Larvae were again found in 1951 and 1957. However, in 1945, 25 individuals were recorded at Portreath in Cornwall, suggesting that a migrant female had deposited her eggs in the vicinity and that this concentration of adults were her offspring.
