Friday, February 8, 2013. Why are UFOs round? I do not believe in UFOs. I do not know what to make of all the sightings but mostly I do not care. This post is about analyzing what a super-fast spacecraft would look like. Rockets use momentum-based propulsion. Throw something at a high speed in opposite direction and the principle of conservation of momentum will propel you forward. The faster we can throw something in opposite direction, the faster we will go. We should be able to do much better than that.
