One of the lucky experiences I've had as a writer was getting to take a class from Frank McCourt, and as busy and sought after as the man was (he was writing Teacher Man at that time), he made time for a one-on-one with each writer in the class, which anyone who's ever taught will tell you, it's generous. He asked pointing to my thick manuscript sitting on the desk between us. This story ...

His questions about how long I was in labor, what was happening in the hospital and what Daddy was doing were expected. It's their actions that we don't like because our love for the person is still there. Always. I was ch...

Tuesday, November 20, 2012. I find myself in ridiculous situations where I need an ear, a shoulder, a heart that loves me. I look inside myself at times and worry that the eyes looking back at me are those of a monster.not the features of a lost, confused and alone soul who longs to have someone to look back at me and smile at what they see. Observations of a widowed father. Music Monday Swan Song. November 15, 2011 Tags: Dating. That’s what the Comment box is for.]. Like most of us who aren’t dead (Widower joke. Ha fucking ha.), a good song can make me cry. Heck, a BAD song can make me cry, but it’s gotta be a really GOOD bad song. Most of the time, it doesn’t take a Psychology degree. Funny the way it is, not right or wrong. Somebody’s heart is broken and it becomes your favorite song. I first heard this song on Bride of the Noisemakers.
