Through these practices I am currently examining how we read through machines and, in turn, how we interact with them. Using the physical page to describe or interrogate the way we read, especially through digital screens, and in so doing escaping or re-imagining the page as the conventional container for written language. Bob Brown’s Reading Machine and the Imagined Escape from the Page. Bob Brown’s Reading Machine and the Imagined Escape from the Page. Bob Brown imagined an escape from the page; the restrictive nature of the form of the ‘antiquated book’ following into new forms of technology and machine reading. This investigation functions as an inquiry into the idea of the reader as machine; in Bob Brown’s printed experiments in optical reading, can we ever escape the page? This is where i'm making my nest. Laquo; we have life! February 10, 2011 by josephine hart. Well, the moving men have arrived with all our boxes of stuff, and with my Hazel cat. I missed her so much over the last two weeks, and she’s settling in nicely. Found herself a nice safe place up on top of the kitchen cupboards. Now where did i put my camera…? Time to get back i suppose, although i’d rather just watch Hazel! Or my tomato seedlings which have come gingerly up. No pretty picture today, sorry! The b...
