Make Your Own Giant Tissue Paper Flowers | A Big Slice

Back when I was in high school I worked summers at Six Flags Over Georgia. One of my duties was to sit at the merchandise carts and make and sell these large tissue flowers. Once I was taught I was amazed at how easy it is. For each flower you will need:. 12 sheets of various colored tissue paper approximately 20 x 26. 1/4 inch wooden dowel (we used the 36 long ones, but the length is up to you). Fold the sheets in half around the wooden dowel. The dowel should stick out from the top about 1/2 inch.

1 whole chicken breast. 1/2 pound of cleaned shrimp (optional). 4 stalks fresh lemongrass. 4 1/2 cups coconut milk (NOT coconut cream). 1 1/2 cups basic chicken stock. 20 quarter-sized slices fresh galanga (fresh ginger makes a fine substitute). 10 whole black peppercorns. 12 fresh wild lime leaves (available at Asian markets; if unavailable, substitute the grated peel of 1 lime). 1 cup well-drained, whole canned straw mushrooms, halved lengthwise (sliced fresh button mushrooms work fine too).
