My 2 cents…………. In regards to technology like the REX. I just want to get personal for a moment. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy that this research and development is going on and that these products are becoming available, but I’d love to see all this time, effort, expertise and funding put into finding THE CURE! Think of the sheer logistics something like that takes. The technology involved? Intercepting a moving asteroid? Monitoring everything about the mission for 7 YEARS? Experiments and human trials ...

A new product out of New Zealand is due for mainstream release soon; REX, a robotic walker very similar to the Argo ReWalk. From Israel. Looks like the second best thing to a cure, but at $150 000 a pop, it’s out of the majority’s price range. I was lucky enough to have had my accident while working, so I’m fully covered by Workcover. However Workcover will not fund any overseas treatments, especially anything to do with stem-cells, and while it seems like Workcover’s contributions are a lot (which of course they are), it’s nowhere near what is needed for long periods of time overseas and the cost of these cutting-edge treatments.
