Room 14 St Albans School 2015. Last week we spent time reading The Lorax. We had our photo taken with a Lorax mustache - we look rather cute! Today we used shaving foam and paint to create our own version of earth. It was a very messy and rather fun way to do art. I also loved the way the children were intrigued by the smell! Emily was our photographer - she took lots of photos, check them out here. Tomorrow we will add some writing about Earth to our art work. Today our school held the Book Olympics.

Room 14 St Albans School 2015. This week is maths week. We had a fun start to Maths Week because Room 13 had a problem with their heat pump today so their room was too cold to work in - this was awesome for us because Room 13 joined us! We did some wonderful maths problem solving activities with our friends from Room 13. We used some maths books to kick start our lessons - it was fun to count to 100 in lots of different ways! Room 14 St Albans School 2015. Peace . Our Book. We used a new app called Shadow Puppets Edu to make our Peace poems into a class book. We each read one line of our poem to make the book. We tried to have a musical background but found it hard to find the perfect piece of music . the music gets a bit loud in places. Next time we will find a better piece of music. Room 14 St Albans School 2015. During Discovery time on Friday I worked with a group of keen Year 2 writers. We worked together to start writing the script for our Show Case. I am so proud of these children who had great ideas and worked really well as a team to make the script sound excellent, we are half way there - I can't wait to see how the second half turns out! Room 14 St Albans School 2015. WeToday our class made me so proud. I gave each group of children the instructions we worked through together last week and asked them to create the rocket animation on their own. I was expecting lots of questions and lots of children needing some help - I was SO wrong! Room 14 St Albans School 2015. Singing with Mrs Tasker. This term we have a big focus on the arts. As part of this we are learning to sing with Mrs Tasker on Wednesday afternoons. She is teaching us to sing with wide mouths and is helping us to learn to stay in tune. Today we worked on pronouncing the National Anthem correctly and we also sang some songs while Mrs Tasker played the guitar. We can't wait until we do it again next Wednesday. We had such an amazing visit from the SPCA Education staff today.
