A look at our families past heritage and share our present joys-. Our Roots Grew Here and There. Wednesday, November 24, 2010. Another New England Favorite Gone? I searched the web for info on the company, but couldn't find an active web site. I'll have to try "Hannaford's" when I go to Me or NY. and hope I can stock up. I hope the company hasn't gone the way of all to many of the small canneries in New England. I mean whats a guy to do? Monday, November 1, 2010. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Weather Repor...

Flipside: Tombstone Tuesday--William Christian Olesen

http://lindasflipside.blogspot.com/2009/04/tombstone-tuesday-william-christian.html

Tuesday, April 28, 2009. Tombstone Tuesday- William Christian Olesen. I have no photos of my great grand uncle Bill. I do have some accounts of him from my aunt and father. He was a quiet and gentle man who enjoyed having a hug from his grandniece. He smoked a pipe and enjoyed sitting on the porch. There is a story that Bill left England because he had "stirred up trouble" at his work with the workers against the employer. Perhaps an early striker! Olesen Family also found on Flipside:. I'm back at it.

Flipside: John George Hughes and Elizabeth Olesen Hughes Death Certificates

http://lindasflipside.blogspot.com/2015/03/john-george-hughes-and-elizabeth-olesen.html

Tuesday, March 31, 2015. John George Hughes and Elizabeth Olesen Hughes Death Certificates. I did not wait until Pennsylvania finally posted their death certificates on line. John George Hughes and Elizabeth Olesen Hughes are my paternal great grandparents and I was in a "need to know" frame of mind years ago. The state of Pennsylvania was very happy to accept my check for copies of both. To permanently seal her mouth! Kae was extremely proud to tell the story. Death Certificate of John George Hughes.

Thursday, January 28, 2010. Treasure Chest Thursday- Ferdinande Weiss Olesen Psalms Bible. I have bits and pieces of my great great grandmother, Ferdinande or Ferdinanda Weiss Olesen's, Psalms Bible. It was given a a birthday present by her brother, Adolph Weiss on November 14, 1872. Of special note is the page where Ann has written the names and birthdates of several of her children. BTW- Elizabeth Ferdinande is my great grandmother. Way cool! January 28, 2010 at 9:07 PM. January 28, 2010 at 10:55 PM.

Wednesday, March 11, 2015. ANNA ESTELLE VANGILDER TYMAN. OMB- Oh My Blog. It's so interesting noodling around ancestry, looking for new information and actually finding an OMG moment. I have had several over the past few months since the great state of Pennsylvania has jumped on the proverbial ball and uploaded their death certificates. Today was just one of those moments. Now how cute is that little face! On May 24, 1904, George Vangilder died and to make ends meet, Jessie opened a boarding house in the...

Allow me to introduce my paternal great grand aunt, Emily Maud Olesen Richards Brown. What a lovely photo post card and colorized! Flipside: My Grandfather, World War I and ALOT of Bureaucratic Red Tape

http://lindasflipside.blogspot.com/2009/02/my-grandfather-world-war-i-and-alot-of.html

Friday, February 20, 2009. My Grandfather, World War I and ALOT of Bureaucratic Red Tape. When the United States entered World War I, George was most anxious to serve. He immediately went to the nearest recruitment office and as the family story goes…he was rejected for active duty due to his poor eyesight. One might say that my grandfather was “hell bent” to serve, and decided if the Americans wouldn’t take him, that he would take a train up to Toronto, and enlist there. While Grandfather was serving in...

http://lindasflipside.blogspot.com/2009/08/treasure-chest-thursday-siberian-bag.html

Thursday, August 6, 2009. Treasure Chest Thursday- Siberian Bag. Treasure Chest Thursday featuring family heirlooms. Hopefully by giving prominence to these items, they will continue to be valued by family members for years to come. Another generation got some use out of it when my son, Aric, began using it for his trips in the late 1990’s. Although old, dirty and battered, it is a well loved and respected piece of the Hughes Family History. George Henry Hughes and his World War I service. I'm back at it.

Happy New Year, I Love you Studmuffin!!!!!

I love you forever and 3 days! My lover spoke and said to me,. Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, and come with me. The winter is past;. The rains are over and gone. Flowers appear on the earth;. The season of singing has come,. The cooing of doves is heard in our land. The fig tree forms its early fruit;. The blossoming vines spread their fragrance. Arise, come, my darling;. My beautiful one, come with me. Baby you can eat them in anything you want! I can see them crawl off the plate any time now!
