Friday, August 3, 2007. Not as steep as Alpe d’Huez, but still long enough to be challenging and scenic. The I alluded to in my previous post, the town of Les deux Alpes was very cool! Truly Tour worthy, and above the tree line at the top! Again, if you are in the area, the summit is a must see! Looking up the last 8k or so of the Col de la Croix de Fer. Me at the top. Ride lots." - Eddy Merckx. Tuesday, May 20, 2008. Santa Ynez wuz hot. I cracked HARD in the XC race on Saturday but was able to muster up a halfway decent kicking-out of jams on Sunday for the STXC. It was a fast start and Blake "Holeshot" Harlan. Was gunning for the front. I wasn't on the front row so there was the usual battle for position which was short lived due to the immediate entry into singletrack. After things "settled down" (yeah right) we were all strung out along the trail in one big line.
