Ginna: Blog: January 2008
http://ginnablog.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html
Thursday, January 31, 2008. Gaze into My Crystal Ball. Who would fare better in this world of fitful time? Those who have seen the future and live only one life? Or those who have not seen the future and wait to live life? Or those who deny the future and live two lives? One of the beauties of life is the fact that we can make our own spontaneous decisions, but when our lives are solely based off of what has not yet happened; everything is focused on the future, not the now. Ginna: Blog: But What Does it Mean???
http://ginnablog.blogspot.com/2008/03/but-what-does-it-mean.html
Monday, March 17, 2008. But What Does it Mean? Exaggeration/humor: “No, I do not weep at the world- I am too busy sharpening my oyster knife.” (115). Hurston’s use of humor in her essay allows the reader to relax, and see what other people call the issue of being colored in a new way. In her essay, Hurston is trying to show her audience that she does not care what meaning there is behind her being colored, but rather people should see her as a unique human being. Thursday, February 21, 2008. Marge's House-Cuties.The Faith in Faith and Science. Its rousing climax left behind in chapter four, Saturday's dénouement forces us to reflect on the limitations of both the sciences and the humanities. Operating on Baxter, Perowne thinks,. He knows it will come, the secret will be revealed- over decades, as long as the scientists and the institutions remain in place, the explanations will refine themselves into an irrefutable truth about consciousness" (262-63). In your res...

The brain's fundamental secret will be laid open one day. Its rousing climax left behind in chapter four,. He knows it will come, the secret will be revealed- over decades, as long as the scientists and the institutions remain in place, the explanations will refine themselves into an irrefutable truth about consciousness" (262-63). Do you agree with Henry's faith in science? In terms of the problems presented in Saturday. What can science solve, and what can it not? I hang on to hope in a tide of fear.

Margaret Story AP LANG. Thursday, February 21, 2008. When Science Is Done. Science can prove things in a way that cannot be refuted, it explains black and white, determines sickness and health, proves dead or alive. Perowne’s life depends on science, everything he does, everything he believes, is rooted in the truth of science. Although science is hard fact and very difficult to argue with, I think there are some things science will never come close to proving or even explaining. Sunday, February 17, 2008.

Wednesday, March 26, 2008. From the New York Times. 1 The New York Times repeatedly cites the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. This group shows statistical data that the Earth’s surface temperature rose 1 degree Fahrenheit since 1990. 2 The U.S. Supreme Court made their first decision with regard to global warming. This shows that powerful and influential groups are now recognizing this issue. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Ginna's Bestest Friends Ever!

Margaret Story AP LANG. Thursday, January 31, 2008. THE IN BETWEEN THINGS. Who would fare better in this world of fitful time? Those who have seen the future and live only one life? Or those who have not seen the future and wait to live life? Or those who deny the future and live two lives? But when I think about it, if I knew my future, I would be miserable. Instead of helping, knowing would be hurting me. The future is something I will never know, so why not “wait to live life” as it comes? I won't tel...
