Above the Dam Jam

Wednesday, January 15, 2014. This winter, as our plan is to be active with them all winter as a family. So far so good on that. We're loving snowshoeing together, sledding, playing games, and eating dinner together every night at the actual dinner table. It's not to say that I'm not working, 'cause I'm working. Pretty fun. Why would I do this otherwise? Sorry HP, we'll stick with you for the jam (no pun intended) for now, but the PB is hitting the high road. Here's what our label looks like currently...

http://abovethedamjam.blogspot.com/2013/08/girls-night-out-becoming-master-food.html

Thursday, August 29, 2013. Becoming a Master Food Preserver. Anyway, one of the things about the class is the incredible fate that is the fact that there are so many other people who obsess about canning, freezing, drying, fermenting, and generally preserving food as much and even more than me. Who knew? Did I mention how much I am learning? Our class, minus Lauren. We'll catch up with her next time! Prepping sage for its vinegar. Herbal Jelly in the making. Prepping the peaches for freezing. Removing th...

Monday, October 17, 2011. A customer who found me on Etsy sent this lovely photo of her wedding favors in action. Thanks for sharing your presentation with us! I'm thrilled to have been a part of such a meaningful and memorable day. Monday, October 3, 2011. Thanks to my cousin Jason, who dropped off a ton of Concord grapes a few nights ago, I'm now making batch after batch of grape jelly. I use the simple recipe straight out of M and S Meyer's Saving the Seasons. I'll let you know how that goes.

Thursday, October 18, 2012. Big Batch Cranberry Sauce. The recipe here is for a relatively large batch of sauce. You'll end up with about a dozen pint-sized jars. If you decide to make a smaller batch, lessen the boiling time. Half a batch of the recipe below should be boiled for about 15 minutes. Here's what you'll need:. 5 Lbs of whole cranberries (fresh or frozen). 10 cups of water. 15 cups of sugar. Tuesday, October 9, 2012. Joe took time off from work to be up in Fryeburg with me. He loved every...

Above the Dam Jam: Year-Round Maine Produce

http://abovethedamjam.blogspot.com/2013/04/year-round-maine-produce.html

Thursday, April 25, 2013. The truth of it is, to make a living (ha! And eggs. I have three freezers quickly dwindling of my summer and fall berry, veggie, and rhubarb supply. We also always use local Maine honey and a bit of local cider vinegar. Seasonal favorites pop up soon, including dandelions (who doesn't have enough of those? Here are some examples of Maine-grown items I used this week with which to make jam and relish. Keeping tomatoes local in April means opting for these. July 25, 2013 at 6:34 PM.

Not quite what your grandma used to make. Sunday, January 30, 2011. I've been working pretty steady lately, but at some slow going embroidery projects. The second embroidery project I've got going is a table topper. Using a piece of sample fabric I was given I'm also using the same running stitch line tracing technique. The fabric is beautiful - Robbins egg blue, soft grey, bits of navy, and pops of lime green. As the backing n edging I'm using a plain navy blue. Links to this post. So it's been a while ...

http://spedconsultant.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html

Guideposts to Special Education. Saturday, November 6, 2010. Does an IEP continue through college? One of the most often asked questions has to do with how to access disability services at the college level. Parents and students are often confused, but they are not the only ones. Some special educators and guidance counselors in the schools don’t know the real score either. The process is this:. Disabilities Services staff will then review the documentation and evaluations provided to them, and if the st...

Into Ablivia: First Christmas list of the year is in.......

http://intoablivia.blogspot.com/2011/11/first-christmas-list-of-year-is-in.html

Friday, November 18, 2011. First Christmas list of the year is in. 6 Wings that can really fly. There are so many things I love about Abby's list this year. 1 She wrote it all by herself in her notebook she keeps tucked with a pencil near her bed. (Can you tell this was composed in the dark after she was suppose to be asleep! 2 She did not ask me to spell one thing and came up with the words, some more creative than others, all by herself. Tuesday, January 31, 2012. Homemade Colored Bath paint. We had a play date planned for today, but Olivia's little guest ended up being sick and unable to come. She was so sad I had to come up with something quick (and fun) to do while it snowed and snowed all day. I quickly found a easy recipe online and she was eager to help me throw it all together and spend some time playing in the tub before nap. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Into Ablivia: February 2011

Sunday, February 27, 2011. Olivia's second b-day celebration of the month with my family. 3-D snowman cake! Wednesday, February 23, 2011. My husband thought it would be a good idea to teach Abby (now 5) to play checkers. She loves games and will actually sit and play with you for a while. As much as it killed him to purchase (for a whole $5) a set from a store-he did. His motto always being -why buy what you can build. And as luck would have it the game set he bought had missing pieces! This little shirt...

Tuesday, November 29, 2011. Monday, November 21, 2011. Abby was very kind in helping Olivia put together her Christmas list this year for Santa. You can see she put Olivia's name at the top to make sure there was no mistaking who was to receive the following items in our household from Santa. 1 A Chicken (I don't know what happened to the kitten). 2 A doll house. 4 A juice maker. 5 * some dolls. While these are all obtainable items, I am not really sure why. Friday, November 18, 2011. Now that Abby has s...

Just the musings of a basketball fan, waiting and watching whatever way the ball may fall. Becky Hammon, Nancy Lieberman, and the Minefield. August 1, 2015. August 1, 2015. The NBA is a copycat league. The Golden State Warriors’ small-ball tactics this last season will undoubtedly be more prevalent than ever next season for one simple reason: it has proven successful in the immediate past. But that’s what stuck out the most in the Finals. That one strategy grabs the headlines because it’s different.
