The Dailies: October 2011
http://katiemaesdailies.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
Monday, October 31, 2011. Babe, let me do it". I think Tony must have said this at least 3 times while we changed a flat tire together. I don't know if you all know this, but I'm stubborn. Okay, and prideful. I believe I've mentioned this before, but it bares repeating. That's not what happened, though. No matter how hard I tugged and strained, I couldn't get the lug-nuts off. Tony was trying to help me, but I didn't know how to let him. 3) You start to feel like you are weak if you let someone know you ...

Holding on to my faith and sanity…. Kristin Herdy’s Quest for the Holy Landfill →. To Love A (Wo)Man. September 12, 2011. And you know what I found in the silence? There’s no big announcement there. I’m not getting married or anything. I’m talking about the love of friends and family and kids and regular readers. I’ve found that love isn’t some grand romantic gesture but a card in the mail on the day you want to give up. Love makes you dinner and draws you pictures in crayon (Thanks, Sara! I’ve bee...

I am a huge believer in collaboration and in the idea that several people can come together and if they work together with the same goals good things will happen. I think I am only as good as the people around me. I really believe that we are most powerful when work with others and allow them to challenge us and think outside the box. Last weekend Relevant Students we put on an event called Merge! We work toge...

What's S-t-r-e-t-c-h-i-n-g me now? Of Thunderstorms And Dreams. I woke up this morning a little groggy thanks to a dream and a storm that woke me up in the early hours of the morning. The thunderstorm shook the house for a while as I could hear the storm approaching and passing. It sounded like a drummer pounding the drum head in the sky for thirty or more minutes. As it passed by, I eventually fell back asleep. Do I believe that God still speaks today? It’s a good question. Or is it simply a reminder to...

What's S-t-r-e-t-c-h-i-n-g me now? My son heads to scout camp in Vermont this morning. In about an hour, we’ll be putting him on a bus with others scouts and leaders from his troop. From there, he’ll begin the journey to camp where he will work on merit badges and scout skills. He will bond with others, and he will be challenged to work on his character. I anticipate that he will come back next weekend exhausted yet STRETCHED. And so today, I pray for Isaac. July 20, 2013. Join The Stretched Community.

Holding on to my faith and sanity…. To Love A (Wo)Man. Kristin Herdy’s Quest for the Holy Landfill. September 20, 2011. I’m an auntie! More on that later. On the way to and from the hospital to see my nephew, I drive along a country highway, dotted with several large estates and ranches. What you notice as you pass are the iron gates, large houses, softly rolling green. Who should bear the brunt of the landfill? Those who produce the most waste? Those who can’t afford to stop the initiative? Reading thos...

Negativity isn’t really living |

September 21, 2011. Negativity isn’t really living. Oh the humanity, my day has been ruined because Facebook decided to change its layout. Today as I read posts and tweets on Facebook and Twitter I saw a ton of negativity around the changes that had been made. It got me thinking to what really matters most in our lives today? Facebook is a free social media outlet. It’s. I have no complaints and I appreciate they try to be innovative and change it up every so often. Where is our perspective? Are we putti...
