Diary of a Gaijin: June 2012
http://diary-of-a-gaijin.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Saturday, 23 June 2012. Snoring, Alcohol, and Naked Japanese Men. Once again, I took the night bus to go to Kobe, this time I wasn't alone! It was meant to be a 4 person trip, but Mr Ron Hurrle and Yuui Sasaki had to drop out. So 'twas just myself and Kristy Jones. In any case, we just knuckled under and tried to sleep. Note the use of the word try. Given that the man was too large for his own seat and had taken up approximately one third of my seat, my options for evading the stench emanating from the m...

Diary of a Gaijin: Things I will and won't miss about Japan
http://diary-of-a-gaijin.blogspot.com/2012/07/things-i-will-and-wont-miss-about-japan.html
Sunday, 22 July 2012. Things I will and won't miss about Japan. So, the time is fast approaching: I have just four weeks left in this incredible country and I'm starting to think about what it'll be like to be home. Many things will likely come up on this list under both categories, because there is some aspect I will love, and some that I will hate. Things I Will Miss. University Life in Japan. Public transport in Tokyo. There is an apology. This sounds so much better than Northern Rail apologising.

jessicainjapan: January 2012
http://jessica-injapan.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Thursday, 19 January 2012. So, school is out for spring break! Today was the end of my first semester at Gakushuin. I honestly can't quite believe how fast it's gone - it seems like only yesterday that I had just arrived bright and bushy tailed, eyes blinking in awe at the hustle and bustle of Shinjuku station (the East side of which, four months on, I am still yet to master! My lovely Tokyo besties ♥. I'm so in love with the place. Monday, 9 January 2012. So, it's become the new year before I knew it!

jessicainjapan: On haircare in Tokyo: the gaijin's worst nightmare
http://jessica-injapan.blogspot.com/2011/11/one-for-girls.html
Thursday, 10 November 2011. On haircare in Tokyo: the gaijin's worst nightmare. So I decided to take the plunge and get my hair done in Tokyo! My roots were getting pretty hideous, so it was a toss up between carrying on looking like a bad advertisement for the 90's, or risking experiencing first hand some of the horror stories I've heard about expats getting their hair done in Japan (think scalp burning, green hair, the works). The evening of the day I got my hair done! Half a head of highlights, a tone...

jessicainjapan: August 2011
http://jessica-injapan.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Monday, 22 August 2011. I'm not gonna lie. Some aspects of this whole year abroad thing are really hard! The main thing being having to leave my lovely boyfriend :(. For two people who have almost literally lived in each other's pockets for the past two years, the prospect of spending a whole one apart isn't exactly the greatest thing. The time difference, along with uni commitments and social schedules is going to make it very challenging for us to talk anywhere near as much as I'd like. I'm not going t...

Diary of a Gaijin: November 2011
http://diary-of-a-gaijin.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 1 November 2011. Haircuts, Cut-throat razors and vacuums. Well, with a title like that, it'd have to be exciting! This is a slightly belated post, as I've been busy all weekend. Or hungover. So in order to combat the mullet, I googled a few key phrases and managed to communicate what I wanted to the good man, who dutifully started cutting my hair. And I must say he did a great job! Despite the fact that he would occasionally press his crotch against my elbow. First he went to a microwave and set...

jessicainjapan: Christmas in Japan and accidental compulsive lying
http://jessica-injapan.blogspot.com/2012/01/christmas-in-japan-and-accidental.html
Monday, 9 January 2012. Christmas in Japan and accidental compulsive lying. So, it's become the new year before I knew it! Christmas in Japan was an interesting spectacle - trying to fight off the urge to lay in bed for the entire day eating whilst convulsing with loathing for Santa and all things Christmassy, we instead decided to go out partying! Christmas, Tokyo style! Kimonos as far as the eye can see and never-ending shouts of "OMEDETOU GOZAIMASU" and you've pretty much got the picture. The kimo...
