There’s no business like snow business! Boxing Day brought glorious 21 degree sunny skies, and lunch at Mr B’s, who had gone all out on a gorgeous roast with potatoes dripping in fat (the only way) and my favourite dish of all time, cheesy leeks. It’s getting real! I’ve wanted to live in Italy all my adult life and, after years of dreaming, planning and more dreaming, in less than three weeks it’s actually going to happen. I’ve bought the house, booked the removalist and decluttered. Well, sort of. The farewell parties are underway, and the To Do list is being tackled slowly. Doors, windows, paint and wallpaper to buy, more decluttering to do, insurance call centres to brave, my flat to let out and housework to postpone. An early Christmas present.

Feeling good from my head…tomatoes! Glass or two of red wine and said guest and I will be glowing with fine fettle-ness. Of course, once I get into it in earnest, all this passata will have to be stored somewhere and the fridge freezer is already full. A vertical freezer is definitely needed as part of my “nothing gets wasted” programme.
