What is Huntington's Disease? Huntington's Disease (HD) is a genetic neurodegenerative condition. It affects the brain and is inherited through a family line. HD destroys the brain cells which affect the way people think, feel and move. There is currently no cure and only limited treatment available. People with HD can experience depression, mood swings, forgetfulness, clumsiness and involuntary movements of the limbs. Eventually they may lose the ability to walk, talk or swallow. In May of 2005 John Egan died of Huntington's Disease (HD). HD is an inherited neurological condition which slowly destroys the brain cells that affect the way people think, feel and move. There is no treatment. No cure. The disease is invariably fatal. I am John's son, Sean. I am gene positive for HD.
