Acacia Johnson is a photographer and artist from Alaska. Her photographic process can be described as expeditionary in nature, exploring human relationships to the polar regions of the earth. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, Acacia now lives somewhere between Norway and Alaska, and exhibits her work internationally. Her photographs are included in collections at the Rhode Island School of Design Museum, Smithsonian Museum of American History, and the Canadian Embassy in Washington DC.

AIALIK was photographed in Aialik Bay in Alaska’s Kenai Fjords National Park during the summer of 2012. Photographed on color film with a medium-format camera, it shapes an open-ended narrative in which a surreal wetland becomes a haven inhabited solely by women.
