I hate the expectations I build around these special days. It’s a lot more stress than it’s worth. But the kids enjoy it, so every year I bite my tongue and exclaim over their handmade cards and quirky gifts they’ve picked out themselves because if I don’t there’s a good chance I could wound their souls.
